Vance ambushed by protesters on ski trip after Oval Office clash with Zelensky
Protesters told JD Vance to 'Go ski in Russia' as he arrived in Vermont after he clashed with Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office on Friday. Hundreds of demonstrators on Saturday lined the road to a ski resort where the US vice president was set to spend his holiday. They held signs reading 'Go ski in Russia traitor', 'Vance = Putin's pawn = traitor' and 'Vermont stands with Ukraine'. Some protesters included drawings of Nazi swastikas, while others also waved Ukrainian flags. Observers of the meltdown in the Oval Office on Friday have pointed the finger at Mr Vance for setting the tone. One of the protesters, Cori Giroux, told Vermont Public Radio: 'After what he did yesterday, he crossed the line.' It came after a shouting match in the White House, during which Donald Trump and Mr Vance told the Ukrainian president to make a deal with Russia 'or we are out'. They also said Mr Zelensky was not thankful enough for US support and accused him of being disrespectful. Mr Vance has not commented on the demonstrations, but reportedly moved his family holiday to an unknown location. The protest had been planned earlier in the week, before the public scolding of Mr Zelensky, but many signs referred to Friday's row. Judy Daly, from Indivisible Mad River Valley, the group that organised the protest, told Vermont Public Radio: 'I think [Friday's] performance at the White House has probably galvanised even more people to come out today.' Demonstrators also gathered in New York, Los Angeles and Boston, and outside Tesla stores against founder Elon Musk's efforts to slash government spending. Hundreds of people protested outside a New York City Tesla dealership on Saturday, holding signs reading 'Burn a Tesla: Save Democracy' and 'No Dictators in the USA'. Nine people were arrested.

Pro-Ukraine protests across US after Trump-Zelensky clash
Pro-Ukraine protests have taken place across the US after Donald Trump and JD Vance's angry exchange with Volodymr Zelensky at the White House. Hundreds of people gathered in New York, Los Angeles and Boston to express their support for Ukraine after the furious row in the Oval Office. Protesters holding pro-Ukraine signs also lined a road in Waitsfield, Vermont, where Vice-President Vance and his family were visiting for a ski holiday. US media reported the family moved to an undisclosed location from their planned ski resort because of the demonstrations. A protest in Waitsfield against the Trump-Vance administration had been organised earlier in the week - before the US president and vice-president's clash with Zelensky - but many signs referenced the row and Russia's war with Ukraine. "I think [Friday's] performance at the White House has probably galvanised even more people to come out today," Judy Daly, from Indivisible Mad River Valley, the group which organised the protest, told Vermont Public Radio. "[Vance] crossed the line," protester Cori Giroux added. Ahead of the Vance family's trip, Vermont's governor Phil Scott had urged people to "be respectful" to them. Scott, the Republican governor who refused to vote for Trump, said: "I welcome the vice-president and his family to Vermont and hope they enjoy their weekend here. "It's no surprise they chose Vermont, we've had a lot of snow this winter, which has been good for our economy." He added: "I hope Vermonters remember the vice-president is here on a family trip with his young children and, while we may not always agree, we should be respectful. "Please join me in welcoming them to Vermont, and hoping they have an opportunity to experience what makes our state, and Vermonters, so special." Vance, who has three young children with his wife Usha, has not publicly commented on the protests. Counter-protesters supporting Trump and Vance were also reportedly in Waitsfield. Demonstrators also gathered outside Tesla stores across the US on Saturday to protest against Elon Musk's push to slash government spending. Musk, the billionaire chief executive of Tesla, has been tasked by US President Trump to oversee the Department of Government Efficiency, more popularly known as Doge. At one point, Trump told Zelensky he was not thankful enough for US military and political support during Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion, and that he was "gambling with World War Three". Vance also accused the Ukrainian president of being disrespectful and "litigating" the situation in front of the media. Zelensky will join European leaders on Sunday for a summit on the Ukraine war, hosted by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Ahead of the meeting in London, UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves signed a loan agreement worth £2.26bn ($2.84bn) with her Ukrainian counterpart, to pay for further military support and the rebuilding of Ukraine in future.

Protesters Hit JD Vance With A Frosty 'F**k Off' On Ski Trip After Zelenskyy Clash
JD Vance's family ski trip in Vermont hit rocky terrain Saturday after the gratitude-demanding vice president was welcomed by hundreds of protesters following his clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The vice president — along with his wife Usha Vance and their three children — headed to Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont as part of a planned vacation and their visit was met with a sea of signs calling the former Ohio senator a 'traitor,' telling him to 'fuck off' and 'go ski in Russia.' The demonstrators signaled their support of Ukraine following the blowout in the Oval Office where Vance and President Donald Trump publicly berated Zelenskyy for being 'disrespectful' and not showing thanks to the U.S. (despite his public record of thanking the country). Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R), in a statement on Thursday, reminded residents that 'while we may not always agree, we should be respectful' as Vance and his family vacation in the state. Sugerbush snow reporter Lucy Welch also had harsh words for Vance ahead of his ski outing, per Jason Kottke's blog as she slammed the Trump administration in a daily report on Saturday. 'Right now, National Forest lands and National Parks are under direct attack by the current Administration, who is swiftly terminating the positions of dedicated employees who devote their lives to protecting the land we love, and to protecting us while we are enjoying that land,' Welch wrote. The previously announced visit to The Green Mountain State sparked plans for protests, the VTDigger noted, as one organizer pointed to residents' concerns with the Trump administration's mass federal cuts and firings, adding that the clash in the White House drew more protesters to the streets. 'People are angry, especially after what occurred in the White House yesterday where we absolutely humiliated an ally,' said Tisa Rennau, an organizer with the Indivisible Mad River Valley group, in an interview with the VTDigger. 'We are no longer the leader of the free world. What has happened? This is not the America we expect to be.' VTDigger's Evan L'Roy snapped pictures of protesters lining a nearby road with trans, Palestinian and Ukrainian flags as well as signs reading 'Trump Vance betraying all that America stands for,' 'JD Vance Zelenskyy is 10x the man you are,' 'Have you no shame? Support Ukraine' and 'Where's your decency?' Others at and near the resort held signs reading 'Spineless fascists can't ski,' 'Warning thin ice' and 'This is the coup's last run.' 'Every day, the Trump-Vance administration is putting Vermonters at risk and hurting Vermonters. He's also hurting everyone in this country, and he's hurting our allies like Ukraine. He's hurting people around the world,' Dan Vidali, a Vermont resident, told the VTDigger. 'We're here to say that we reject that in Vermont.'
