Industry Ministry launches commercial bank account opening service
As part of its ongoing efforts to develop the business environment and enhance compliance with regulatory decisions, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced the launch of a new service in collaboration with several local banks. This service enables business owners to easily open a commercial bank account, contributing to the stability of commercial activities. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasised that this step reflects the Ministry's continuous commitment to establishing a flexible, transparent, and investment-friendly business environment. It also highlights the Ministry's dedication to providing efficient services that facilitate doing business and support business owners in complying with relevant regulations. He noted that the Ministry will continue to develop more initiatives to support the national economy. The Minister added that this new service is part of an integrated set of initiatives aimed at simplifying procedures, achieving the highest levels of legislative compliance, and enhancing the efficiency of government services provided to the commercial sector, thereby boosting Bahrain's competitiveness regionally and internationally. This initiative comes in line with the implementation of Ministerial Decision (43) of 2024 regarding payment regulations for commercial transactions of business establishments, which mandates all commercial establishments to open a unified commercial bank account for their financial transactions and provide approved electronic payment methods that support transparency and digitisation in commercial activities. To simplify the process, a direct service point has been established on the second floor of the Bahrain Financial Harbour, near the Bahrain Investors Centre. Additionally, the service can be accessed online via the commercial registration system 'Sijilat' at The Ministry urges all commercial establishments to open a commercial bank account before the deadline on June 13, 2025, to ensure full compliance with the resolution and benefit from the provided facilities. The Metal Assay Center wins gold classification 'Taqyeem 5'
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce's Metal Assay Center has been awarded the gold classification 'Taqyeem 5' in the Government Service Centers Evaluation Program, Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce, Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, announced. The recognition, bestowed upon the center by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, serves as a significant encouragement to further enhance government services to the highest standards, the minister stated. Fakhro affirmed the ministry's commitment to utilizing all available resources and intensifying efforts to improve performance, update systems, and prioritize initiatives aimed at increasing the efficiency of government services provided to beneficiaries. He commended the dedication of all personnel at the ministry's service centers and urged them to maintain this level of achievement, continuously developing their performance to improve service quality and enhance the overall efficiency of government operations.

Bahrain: Ministry Urges All Businesses to Adopt Electronic Payment Methods'
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has called on all commercial establishments operating in the Kingdom of Bahrain to begin taking necessary steps to comply with Resolution No. (43) of 2024 concerning payment systems for commercial transactions. The deadline for full implementation is June 13, 2025. Under the new regulation, both existing and newly established businesses are required to open a commercial bank account with a licensed financial institution in Bahrain. Additionally, they must offer at least one electronic payment method, such as a point-of-sale (POS) system, electronic payment gateway, or approved e-payment platforms. His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the importance of this transition, stating:'We are entering a new era of financial and commercial development in Bahrain. We encourage all businesses to seize this opportunity to modernize their operations and adopt secure, efficient digital payment systems.' He added, 'Resolution No. (43) of 2024 is not only a legal requirement, but also a strategic step toward enhancing financial processes and promoting transparency. We strongly urge all commercial entities to take immediate action to ensure a smooth and secure transition into a more advanced and safe financial environment.' The Ministry's initiative aims to align Bahrain's business ecosystem with international best practices in digital commerce, while also improving the security and efficiency of financial transactions in the Kingdom.
