New Worcestershire walking group for expectant mothers
A new walking group for expectant mothers and their families has been launched, with the aim of creating a safe environment to meet other Roaming Birth Tribe meets twice a month, strolling through different parts of Worcestershire each was founded by Abbie Ing, an antenatal and hypnobirthing educator from Malvern, and Cheryl Griffin, a birth and post-natal doula."It's not just expectant mums," said Ms Ing. "It's birth partners, dads, grandparents – basically anyone who wants to know more about what to expect from birth." Ms Ing launched her professional service after the birth of her second son, when she found women sometimes struggled to find answers to their questions about birth."That lit a bit of a fire in my belly," she for the walks, she stated the physical and mental benefits of walking were well-documented."We just wanted to make a safe place to make people comfortable about having conversations about birth," she said."So often people have quite limited time with their midwives these days – not through any fault of the NHS, they're doing everything they can."We just want to provide a bit of extra space really, for new parents – even experienced parents – just to talk about birth in a really safe place, where they can ask all of those perhaps embarrassing questions that they don't feel comfortable asking their midwife, or that they just don't have time to ask."The Roaming Birth Tribe will be running free drop-in walks on the first and third Wednesday of each details can be found on this Facebook page. ‘Metroid Prime 4: Beyond' Gives Off Some Real ‘Echoes' Vibes
The latest trailer for Metroid Prime 4 shows Samus on the new planet of Viewros and some new psychic abilities, but it's all giving off some heavy Echoes vibes. It's been a while since we had anything new to see for Metroid Prime 4, and the latest trailer (shown below) reveals the world of Viewros to be both amazing and suitably mysterious. The original Metroid Prime trilogy felt very neat in a bookended kind of way. The whole Dark Samus arc as an antagonist worked wonderfully, but it's the second game in the Prime series that's really pertinent here. In many ways, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes was almost a side story from the main quest. Yes, it dealt with Phazon and its corrupting effects, but the story was more self-contained. Taking place on the planet Aether, an indigenous race called the Luminoth was being hunted to extinction by the Ing from a Phazon-induced dark dimension of sorts. While that light and dark duality is seemingly absent in Metroid Prime 4, the planet of Viewros and its ancient alien population are definitely giving off strong Luminoth vibes. They're obviously not the same, but the new upgraded suit for Samus that's teased in the trailer (shown above) also bears stylistic hallmarks to the Light Suit from Echoes, especially with the sleek armor and the three lights in the center of the chest. The new psychic abilities that Samus can wield also come across as almost Aetherean in nature. It's hard to place how and why, but there's a certain Echoes vibe here. An echo of Echoes, if you will. While Sylux wasn't present in this trailer, it has been revealed that Sylux will be one of the game's primary villains, which will be interesting to see how that resolves as well as what Sylux's motivations are for hunting Samus in the first place. Considering that Retro Studios has been working on Metroid Prime 4 since 2019, it's clear that this extended development cycle has birthed something probably quite remarkable. Here's hoping that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond can finally deliver on that once it is released on Switch later this year. In the meantime, you should definitely play the remaster of the first Metroid Prime also on the Switch. It's incredibly good. Follow me on X, Facebook and YouTube. Angler 'chuffed' as UK's largest catfish confirmed
An angler said catching the biggest-ever catfish recorded in the UK was a "dream come true." Shaun Ing landed the 150lb (68kg) specimen at Chigborough Fisheries, near Maldon, Essex, at the end of September after an hour-and-a-half of "absolute madness" as he fought to reel it in. Having his record catch officially verified by the British Record (Rod-Caught) Fish Committee was a "massive relief", he said. "I am chuffed to bits - this is a long time coming," he added. The catch has taken the top spot from the previous best, a different catfish caught from the same lake last May, which weighed 143lb (64.4kg). "You always dream of catching the biggest fish in the lake, but to have a UK record is a dream come true," said Mr Ing. The 34-year-old had been fishing with his wife, Chloe, and friends when his prey took the bright yellow bait. He said the catfish - which measured more than 8ft (2.4m) long - was incredibly powerful, and so heavy that it bent the hook on the weighing scales. Mr Ing said his friends were unable to help until he could bring the fish closer to the bankside. "Even an hour into the fight, the fish was still taking line and we were all wondering, 'When is this going to end?'" he said. Mr Ing, who first started fishing with his grandfather at the age of six, said: "It is not a hobby; it is an obsession." He said his grandfather would be "so proud, he would be shouting it from the rooftops". He said the catch was a "great accolade" for Chigborough Fisheries and that he could not have achieved it without their support. Follow Essex news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X.
