15th Annual Innovation Market introduces 17 businesses to Siouxlanders

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A little over a dozen businesses and start-ups have been given a chance to win a couple thousand dollars for their company. The 15th Annual Innovation Market kicked off on Thursday night, being held by Siouxland GO, an organization that dedicates their time to developing and helping folks start their business in Siouxland. This year's Innovation Market has 17 businesses being showcased, and the community will vote on their top five favorites. The organization with the most votes will receive $5,500 they can use on their business. Nothing Bundt Cakes is primed to open a new location at 5001 Sergeant Road #375 in the Lakeport Commons Shopping Center. The news was first announced in a March 26 video by Jennifer Rose Bass with Century 21 ProLink and was corroborated by the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce in a Facebook post on Monday, April 7. 15th annual Innovation Market will have entrepreneurs compete for the best new business ideas As one might guess from the name, Nothing Bundt Cakes specializes in Bundt cakes, which are known for their ring shapes. The chain has over 550 locations across North America, including one in Sioux Falls, two in Omaha and one in Lincoln. ‘A springboard for new businesses': 15th annual Innovation Market will have entrepreneurs compete for the best new business ideas

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The 15th annual Innovation Market will have entrepreneurs present their business ideas for a chance to receive funding. The annual event hosted by Siouxland Growth Organization (Siouxland GO) is meant to 'foster entrepreneurship and support innovative business ideas in the Siouxland region,' per a release. 'Innovation Market is a springboard for new businesses in our region,' said Siouxland GO President Kristen Heimgartner in a statement. 'We encourage entrepreneurs, community members, and business leaders to come together to support fresh ideas and help shape Siouxland's future economy.' The competition follows three steps, with the first being the showcase of business ideas that are then displayed anonymously. Attendees will then vote. The top five finalists will then create and submit a business plan for their ideas. Sioux City seeking input on 2026-2029 Strategic Plan The finalists will then present their pitches on June 12, where a winner will then be selected. The first place winner will receive a prize of $5,500, $3,000 will go to the second place winner, and $1,500 will go to the third place winner. The final pitch event is only open to Siouxland GO members and Innovation Market Sponsors. Anyone interested must meet certain eligibility requirements. You must be 18 years or older, the business must be for-profit and within 50 miles of Sioux City, and the business or idea must have launched after May 15, 2024. Even for entrepreneurs that don't win, the event also provides networking opportunities and engaging discussions. Past winners of the Innovative Market include Melting Cow, Marto Brewing Co., Jefferson Beer Supply, Crumb., Sizzle and Syrup, and many more. The Innovation Market will take place on Thursday, May 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Sioux City Art Center.
