RBNC to host themed summer camps to ‘take kids outside'

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — River Bend Nature Center offers students fun learning experiences year-round. While spring break is on everyone's mind, summer brings multiple week-long themed camps. While each camp will run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until noon, each of the four camps has a unique theme this year. Insectopia – June 9-13 Trail Blazers – June 23-27 Mad Science Lab – July 7-11 Wild Critters – July 21-25 Wichita Youth Football League aims to give athletes exposure through tournament These camps are based on hands-on experiences for kids aged 4 to 11. The cost is $110 per child or $100 if they are RBNC members. For Erika Mitchell, RBNC Education Director, it is all about getting the kids outside. 'I love being able to take kids outside,' Mitchell said. 'So kids that don't have as much time to go outside for recess or live in apartments that don't have close access to parks, it's just being able to go outside in the trail and see what North Texas looks like when we don't build on it.' Information on each camp can be found on RBNC's website. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
