Max Verstappen admits George Russell incident 'not right'

Martinez/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK) Max Verstappen admitted Monday that his controversial collision with George Russell in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix was 'not right and shouldn't have happened.' Verstappen, the four-time defending Formula 1 champion, stopped short of apologizing for the incident that earned him a 10-second penalty and dropped him to 10th place in Barcelona. Late in the race, Verstappen initially objected to his Red Bull Racing team's order to allow Mercedes' Russell to swap positions after a tire change. After allowing Russell to pass, Verstappen accelerated heading into a turn and caused a collision. Race stewards deemed Verstappen was entirely at fault, penalized him 10 seconds and also added three penalty points to his super license. The 27-year-old Dutch driver now has 11 points, one short of the maximum allowed in a 12-month period before warranting an automatic one-race suspension. Russell agreed with the stewards' decision, calling Verstappen's move was 'very deliberate.' 'It's something that I've seen numerous times in sim racing and on iRacing. Never have I seen it in a Formula 1 race,' Russell told reporters post-race. Verstappen, who crossed the finish line fifth prior to receiving the penalty, issued his comments on Monday on Instagram. 'Some moves after the safety car restart fueled my frustration, leading to a move that was not right and shouldn't have happened,' he wrote. 'I always give everything out there for the team and emotions can run high. You win some together, you lose some together. See you in Montreal (the next race).' Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan on Monday shared an inspiring workout video on social media. The 75-year-old could be seen performing heavy exercises in a gym, including lunges, boxing and weight-lifting. Roshan has been talking about his fitness journey and the health transformation after his battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in December is known for his 100 per cent track record at the box office as a film director. He is now busy with the new instalment in his superhero franchise. However, during an interview earlier this year, he announced that he wouldn't be returning to direct son Hrithik in the new 'Krrish' film. Former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez was forced to apologise to his wife soon after his win at the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, as videos of him partying were shared on social media Sergio Perez previously apologised for the manner of his celebrations after winning the Monaco Grand Prix in 2022. The 35-year-old driver is currently without a team after being axed by Red Bull at the end of last season, ending his continuous 14-year spell on the Formula One grid. Perez has claimed six wins during his F1 career, including at the Monaco GP in May 2022. However, following his success in Monte Carlo, the Mexican star apologised to his wife Carola Martinez after videos of him dancing with other women at a party emerged online. "I have seen the videos that have been circulating about me and I take responsibility for it," Perez wrote in a public apology on Instagram."It was a bad party that I didn't know how to control at the height of the person that I am, but it was just that, a very bad party. "People close to me know my values and the type of person that I am. For those who ask me, we are more united than ever, me and my wife. "And for those who just want to hurt us, I wish you the best. Thank you all for your love, and I apologise to all the people who love me because those videos don't represent me, not at all. A poor end to last season saw Red Bull part ways with Perez in December, despite having renewed his contract until 2026 months earlier. He vowed to take several months to assess his options, meaning an absence from F1 was likely, but Perez reportedly has multiple teams to consider ahead of next year. It was initially reported that Perez was a leading option for Cadillac as the F1 grid expands to 11 teams in 2026. Perez is said to be in discussions over a possible three-year contract. When asked if Perez was under consideration, Cadillac advisor Mario Andretti told ESPN: 'It's an option. It could be an option. Of course.' Cadillac are reported to be targeting an experienced driver to lead their new team. With 281 starts on the F1 grid, Perez fits the criteria, but Cadillac could face a battle for his signature. It has been rumoured that Perez's team approached Alpine earlier this month. This season, the team demoted Jack Doohan after six rounds, with Franco Colapinto taking his place as Alpine's second driver alongside Pierre Gasly. Alpine's executive advisor Flavio Briatore explained the decision and admitted that the team were focusing on the future. 'At the moment you need to put the team together, from the commercial side, the technical side, the management side,' Briatore said. 'The driver makes no difference now. The difference will be in 2026, 2027, 2028. This should be the difference for the driver.'

According to online records obtained by PEOPLE, Dorfman, 33, filed for divorce from Williams in New York City on Friday, May 16, after nearly two years of marriage.
