AP police bags award for verifying 6.25 lakh passport applications within 3 days
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has presented a 'Certification of Recognition' to the Andhra Pradesh Police for exemplary performance in passport application verification during the financial year 2024-25.
Superintendent of Police (Intelligence) A. Ramadevi received the award from the Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, during the 13th Passport Seva Divas celebrations at the Passport Officers' Conference — 2025, held from June 23 to 25 at New Delhi.
Recognising the critical role of police verification in issuing passports, the MEA adjudged the Andhra Pradesh Police as one of the best performing agencies across the country for completing 6.25 lakh police verification reports within a record three-day window, said Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta.
In addition, Andhra Pradesh State has also secured awards in two more categories. The Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, Guntur, won the Institutional Performance Award (Postal) and the Regional Passport Officer (RPO), Vijayawada, won the Individual Recognition Award, said the DGP in a release on Wednesday. He complimented the police for winning the award.
