MACC: 10 NACS sub-strategies implemented since May
KUALA LUMPUR: Ten out of 60 sub-strategies under the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024–2028 have been successfully implemented as of June 3.
In a statement today, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the achievement reflects the commitment and effectiveness of the relevant agencies in carrying out their respective mandates.
The anti-graft agency said it also demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening governance and combating corruption comprehensively, as well as boosting public confidence both domestically and internationally.
"To ensure the continuity and effectiveness of each NACS sub-strategy, the MACC chief commissioner called on all lead agency heads to strengthen internal coordination through their respective Integrity Units.
"He also emphasised the need for close collaboration between divisions within ministries and departments to ensure a holistic approach in implementing this strategy," the statement read.
Among the sub-strategies completed are the drafting of laws to enhance border security, the reintroduction of the Parliamentary Services Act, and the strengthening of governance and internal audit functions in the public service.
Other completed initiatives include the adoption of the Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Reinforcement Module by secretaries-general and department heads in ministries, departments, and agencies.
This achievement was shared by seven lead agencies, including the MACC, and was announced by its chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, who chaired the NACS 2024–2028 performance coordination meeting held today at the MACC headquarters.
Progress on the NACS implementation can now be tracked via NACS website, which displays the status of each sub-strategy to promote greater transparency and accountability.
NACS, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 7, 2024, sets out 60 sub-strategies aimed at systematic anti-corruption efforts, strengthening governance, and establishing structured mechanisms for monitoring and reporting.
The initiative seeks to improve institutional performance and integrity within the public service and bolster public trust in the national administrative system.
The achievements under NACS have also contributed to improving Malaysia's ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Index.
