Firefighters and police officers are currently dealing with the blaze at the former Gates factory in Dumfries. A fire has broken out at a derelict factory in a Scots town. It has also been used by Gates and Interfloor. Dumfries and Galloway Council is currently looking into a "sustainable development opportunity" for the site. Historic Environment Scotland has previously stated it does not want to see the listed building demolished – despite councillors describing its condition as 'terrible' and 'absolutely disgraceful'. The site currently belongs to the Crown after the previous owners were dissolved.
