Kentucky lawmakers meet for interim session
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- Legislative meetings are beginning to pick back up in Frankfort as Tuesday marked the start of the Commonwealth's Interim Session.

The Interim Session is a time for lawmakers to discuss police ideas that could become bills during the next legislative session in 2026. The first topic on the agenda was education. Lawmakers heard a presentation on a new accountability model, which the Kentucky Department of Education has been working on for two years. The goal of the new model is to create more 'vibrant learning experiences' with state testing that meets students where they are. The new model could be approved as soon as next summer.
The Interim Session is scheduled to continue through the end of the year, and you can find the updated schedule here.
