Carl Junction School District celebrates top educators

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Carl Junction R-1 School District has announced its District Teacher of the Year award winner, along with other education awards. The district says its top educator award, District Teacher of the Year, was awarded to Intermediate Special Education Teacher Tonya Nease, who also received two more awards, being named the Intermediate Building Teacher Impact winner, as well as Elementary Teacher of the Year. High School Physical Education Teacher Chelsi Leggett was the Secondary Teacher of the Year and was also one of the High School Teacher Impact Award winners. Additional honors given at the event included: Hannah Kelley received the EC/K1 Teacher Impact Award Sarah Graham received the Primary 2-3 Teacher Impact Award Whitney Bucher received the Junior High School Teacher Impact Award Megan Perry received the High School Teacher Impact Award The 2025 Pat Owens Support Staff of the Year Award went to Nutrition Services Cashier Marti Sowder. Carl Junction Schools says other support staff nominees included: Megan Gordon from the Primary 2-3 Building Jill Wilkins from the Intermediate Building TJ Johnson from the Junior High Deanna McDonald from the High School Tammy Falcon from the Special Services Department. The Carl Junction Education Awards were sponsored by Curt and Kristie Crossland and Jennafer Johnson (Edward Jones).
