Watch: Alabama beachgoers share the waves with a shark
With summer right around the corner, I imagine families are eying the beach as a fun vacation spot. If you plan to go swimming in the ocean this summer, you may not be the only one.
Drone video released from our sister station WKRG shows a group of sharks swimming close to the shoreline in Perdido Pass, Alabama.
It's this time of the year, April to June, when shark sightings are the most common along the Gulf odds of dying from a shark attack are rather low. Roughly 5 Americans every year die to an unprovoked attack. According to the International Shark Attack, putting your risk of dying to one in 3.7 million.
To put that in perspective, here are some other stunning odds.
Odds of dying from a hot dog: 1 in 3.4 million
Odds of dying while decorating a Christmas Tree: 1 in 3.3 million
