Bahrain Eyes Bigger Role in Global Triathlon Scene

Bahrain is setting its sights on a bigger presence in the international triathlon arena. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia's (OCA) Vice President for the 3rd Asian Youth Games (Bahrain 2025), welcomed Mr. Antonio Romanio, President of the International Triathlon Union, at the Bahrain Olympic Committee headquarters in Seef District. Joining the discussions were His Excellency Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Mr. Abbas Bu Hassan, Vice President of the Bahrain Triathlon Federation. Building Bridges for Triathlon Growth Shaikh Isa bin Ali greeted Mr. Romanio with a warm welcome, passing on the regards of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. He expressed Bahrain's appreciation for the International Triathlon Union's work in developing the sport globally. The conversation focused on how Bahrain and the International Triathlon Union can collaborate to further grow the sport locally and internationally. From increasing participation to elevating Bahraini athletes on the world stage, both parties explored ways to take triathlon to new heights. Shaikh Isa bin Ali credited Bahrain's rising triathlon success to the unwavering support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the continued encouragement of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to working closely with the International Triathlon Union through knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and long-term collaboration. Before wrapping up, he wished Mr. Romanio success in his leadership and efforts to expand the sport worldwide—hinting that Bahrain is ready to play a bigger role in that journey.
