Camden superintendent search down to two

CAMDEN, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The Camden Central School District announced on Friday night that their search for a new superintendent is nearing an end. The district announced on Friday, May 2 that Mr. Brent Suddaby and Mr. Jason Evangelist are the final two candidates for the position. 'The Board was ecstatic about the interest that our District and our communities received from such a highly qualified pool of candidates,' Camden Board of Education President Katherine Stone said in a statement. 'We had many exceptional applicants, and we are pleased to be considering two student-driven, talented, and committed leaders for the opportunity to be our next Superintendent of Schools.' According to the district, the process for their new superintendent began in January. Interviews of nine different candidates began in February, and four candidates were invited to interview with the Board of Education. Suddaby is the current superintendent at the Candor Central School District in Tioga County. Highlights of Suddaby's career includes enhancements to the district's programming in literacy, including the adoption of a 'Science of Reading' initiative and establishing a Parent-Teacher-Student Association. During his career, Suddaby has worked in the Westhill, Mexico, Tully and West Genesee School Districts. He is in his 28th year working in education, with four of those being as Candor's superintendent. Evangelist is the current Interim Superintendent at Camden, and also serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the district. During his time at Camden, Evangelist has helped the district develop early childhood programming for students between the ages of two and three, including the introduction of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. He also helped introduce a school-to-work program for students with International Wire in Camden. Evangelist has also spent time in the following school districts: Whitesboro, Westmoreland, Oriskany, The Rome City School District, and Holland Patent. Evangelist has also spent 28 years working in education, and has spent four years in the Camden School District. Suddaby and Evangelist will interview with the district's Stakeholder Advisory Committees over the next week. Those committees will report back to the Board of Education with their assessment of both candidates, who will determine their next steps. The board anticipates the chosen candidate entering their new role this summer. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Daily Weather Update from FOX Weather: Record-breaking arctic outbreak enters final day Friday

Welcome to the Daily Weather Update from FOX Weather. It's Friday, Feb. 21, 2025. Start your day with everything you need to know about today's weather. You can also get a quick briefing of national, regional and local weather whenever you like with the FOX Weather Update podcast. Friday brings the final day of the record-breaking arctic outbreak that has frozen the central U.S., but the danger isn't over. While some areas are experiencing a slight reprieve from the extreme lows seen earlier in the week, subzero wind chills persist, stretching from the northern border down to the Gulf Coast. More than 80 locations are bracing for more likely record-low temperatures and sub-zero wind chills, with some facing their coldest late-season readings ever. The countdown begins. We're just 100 days away from the start of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. The season officially begins on June 1 and will run through November 30. Tropical activity can form outside these dates because warm water and favorable atmospheric factors allow for cyclone development nearly year-round, but less than 3% of systems have formed outside the six-month season. Days of concentrated lake-effect snow resulted in feet of fresh powder being dumped on several counties in upstate New York. That was enough snow to collapse the roofs of several buildings in Oneida and Oswego counties. Drone video from Corbin Pritchard shows a collapsed barn in Taberg, in Oneida County, and a partially collapsed bowling alley in Camden, as well as damage at the International Wire building in Williamstown. Point Rock, New York, received almost 60 inches of snow from this past Sunday to Thursday, based on data from the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
