IWG, ACK host vibrant cultural, tourism event
KUWAIT: The International Women's Group (IWG) in cooperation with the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK), under the chairmanship of Vietnam, successfully hosted a vibrant cultural and tourism evening on May 18, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The event brought together members of the IWG and many other distinguished guests from the diplomatic corps and private sector in Kuwait. In her opening remarks, Polina Dlamini, President of the IWG and wife of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini, warmly welcomed a multitude of guests and emphasized the cultural diversity and growing presence of ASEAN in Kuwait. 'The Southeast Asian nations are special for their incredible diversity, each with its unique language, unique culture, unique traditions with different ethnic backgrounds and religions,' she noted. Representing the current ASEAN Chair, Dr Duc Thang Nguyen, Ambassador of Vietnam to Kuwait, highlighted Southeast Asia's strong post-pandemic recovery in the tourism sector: 'In 2024, the region welcomed almost 122 million international visitors. Thailand remained the top destination with 35.5 million visitors. Malaysia followed with 25 million. And Vietnam continued its growth trajectory, welcoming more than 18 million international tourists'. He also stressed that Southeast Asia's tourist attraction has come from its cultural diversity, wide range of traveling experiences, the people's hospitality, amazing delicious cuisines, safe and clean environment with breathtaking natural landscapes, a large number of world recognized heritages, so many beautiful beaches and bustling cities. The evening featured cultural performances by the Indonesian, Myanmar, Filipino and Vietnamese communities, showcasing the unique artistic traditions of the region. Guests also enjoyed different video clips demonstrating the diverse cultures of ASEAN member states, plenty of natural beauty spots and rich culinary arts before indulging in a curated buffet of signature dishes from across the region. Adding a touch of excitement to the night, the event concluded with a lucky draw, offering valuable prizes contributed by ASEAN embassies in Kuwait. The IWG Executive board was delighted to present each ASEAN member state with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of their outstanding efforts in organizing an exceptional and informative event. This cultural and tourism evening served as not only a celebration of ASEAN to promote the unity and obvious image of the ASEAN community in Kuwait, but also a meaningful platform to strengthen cultural exchange and friendship with the Kuwaiti people.

IWG hosts a joyful summer gathering by the beach
The International Women's Group (IWG) welcomed members and guests to a lively and engaging summer gathering held at a scenic beachside venue on the first of May under the leadership of IWG president Polina Dalmini, wife of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The event brought together women from diverse backgrounds to celebrate friendship, fun and community spirit. The day began at 10 am with fresh cold summer juices, setting a healthy tone for the gathering. Shortly after, attendees assembled for a group photo, capturing the unity and enthusiasm of the morning. A light exercise warm-up at 10.20 am energized everyone before the start of the indoor games which delighted participants. The excitement continued with a company logo quiz, both of which offered fun competition and multiple small prizes. Guests were then treated to a delicious brunch, providing an opportunity to relax, socialize, and recharge. The post-brunch segment featured a variety of outdoor activities, including beach and pool games. As the day neared its close, attendees enjoyed some free time to mingle and soak in the atmosphere before buses departed to return everyone home with yet more wonderful memories of Kuwaiti hospitality. President Polina Dalmini expressed her delight at the successful turnout, noting, 'Events like this are at the heart of IWG's mission — to bring women together, foster friendships, and create joyful experiences in Kuwait. Elegance and tradition mark Italian Cultural Day celebration
KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Embassy of Italy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the International Women's Group (IWG), hosted a vibrant cultural event titled 'Murano Glass and the Venice Carnival' at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The event highlighted the rich artistic and cultural heritage of Italy, focusing on the Region of Veneto and its intricate beauty of Murano glass and enchanting traditions of the Venice Carnival. The event began with opening remarks by Mrs. Layla Boulos, Public Relations Coordinator, followed by a welcome speech from IWG President Mme Polina Dlamini, spouse of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Guests were then addressed by H.E. Lorenzo Morini, the Italian Ambassador to Kuwait, and his spouse Mrs. Maria Lorena Morini, who warmly expressed their pride in showcasing Italy's cultural treasures in Kuwait. Among the esteemed attendees was the honorary president of IWG, Sheikha Hanouf Al- Bader Al-Sabah, along with the U.S. and Lesotho Ambassadors to Kuwait, as well as other dignitaries, underscoring the strong diplomatic and cultural ties between nations. A captivating video presentation titled 'Venice and the Art of Murano Glass' took the audience on a visual journey through Venice's glassmaking traditions, followed by a talk from guest speaker Mrs. Alessia Fuga, a renowned Italian Murano glass artist, who offered insights into the craftsmanship behind handcrafted glass jewellery. The event was further enriched by live musical performances from Quintetto Denner, a distinguished Italian jazz ensemble, performing rivisited italian classical masterpieces. Another video, 'The Venice Carnival', transported guests into the heart of one of Italy's most iconic celebrations, evoking the magic and grandeur of Venetian culture. Guests were treated to a thrilling raffle draw with prizes generously provided by event sponsors. The celebration concluded with a buffet lunch inspired by traditional Veneto's cuisine, offering a delightful taste of Italy. The event was a true celebration of culture, art, and international friendship, and served as a memorable reminder of the enduring beauty and creativity of Italian heritage.
