Dubai Municipality wins 11 awards in key strategic fields during the first quarter of 2025
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Municipality has received 11 local and international awards during the first quarter of 2025 in recognition of its achievements across vital areas of municipal work. These accolades highlight the Municipality's commitment to innovation, institutional agility, safety, and customer service excellence, aligned with its vision to develop world-class services that enhance the quality of life in Dubai. Among the key recognitions, Dubai Municipality received two awards from the Business Agility Consortium: 'Overall Business Agility' and 'Overall Business Resilience.' These awards reflect the Municipality's proactive adoption of agile frameworks to drive adaptability and resilience in service delivery and strategic planning. The Municipality also received the 'Global Distinguished Innovator' award from the Global Innovation Institute (GInI) in recognition of its digital initiative 'Montaji,' a smart platform for registering consumer products. The platform has contributed to faster product registration, enhanced market oversight, and a reduced carbon footprint, thereby improving product transparency and safety. In the field of health and safety, Dubai Municipality was recognised at the Intersec 2025 Awards in the 'Pioneers in the Field of Security and Fire Safety' category. The award acknowledges its efforts to advance health and safety standards, mitigate risk, and foster sustainable working environments that contribute to community wellbeing. Dubai Municipality also received first place in the 'Renewable Energy' category at the IChemE Global Awards, and second place in the 'Education and Development' category for its use of virtual reality simulation at the Jebel Ali Wastewater Treatment Plant. Its Public Procurement Leadership and Excellence Initiative was honoured at the 2025 Global Brilliance Awards in both the 'Innovative Use of Technology' and 'Big Business Innovation' categories. The initiative demonstrated the Municipality's success in leveraging digital transformation to enhance procurement processes, improve service efficiency, and reduce operational costs. Further recognition was earned in tourism and community services, with the Municipality receiving the 'Best Luxury Beach Management Award' in the UAE at the Luxury Lifestyle Awards for its enhancements to public beach services and accessibility for all societal groups, including tourists and people of determination. Additional honours were received at the UAE Ideas Award and the Arab International Ideas Award, acknowledging innovative initiatives across multiple fields of municipal work. The Municipality also secured five wins at the British Safety Council Awards, reflecting its continued efforts to cultivate a safe and inclusive environment for employees, partners, and the community. The system, which redefines gold and jewellery transportation standards, integrates cutting-edge technologies to offer real-time tracking, top-tier protection, and full regulatory compliance. The announcement took place at the Aman Security Training Centre in Dubai, where industry leaders gathered to witness the evolution of transport security. 'Tawash' marks a leap into a smarter, fully monitored transportation process, ensuring that gold shipments are securely transferred between commercial entities with advanced oversight. Jassim Taher, Director of Special Projects at SIRA, declared, 'Today, 'Tawash' has officially entered the operational phase,' highlighting the app's ability to guarantee the safe delivery of gold shipments with live monitoring by law enforcement authorities. The system replaces traditional cash transport services, offering a more efficient and secure alternative. Transport operations will rely on high-tech security bags, rigorously tested and certified to the highest standards. These bags include features such as smart alarms, loud sirens, electronic locks, and protection against forced entry. Dubai Police will oversee transport operations, with real-time auditing capabilities and strict verification measures to ensure compliance. Violations, including transporting gold beyond permitted limits without proper security measures, will lead to immediate fines. SIRA encourages all companies to adopt the new system and its advanced security protocols to maintain Dubai's gold market as one of the safest and most regulated in the world. Dubai launches new ‘Tawash' system for secure gold transport
Dubai 's Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) has launched the 'Tawash' system for gold and jewellery transportation, following its introduction at Intersec 2025. The announcement came during a gathering at the Aman Security Training Centre in Dubai, where gold and jewellery companies witnessed the system's capabilities in transforming transportation into a monitored operation. 'Today, 'Tawash' has officially entered the operational phase,' Jassim Taher, Director of Special Projects at SIRA said in a statement. SIRA launches gold transport security system in Dubai The system enables secure transfers between commercial entities with real-time monitoring by law enforcement authorities, replacing traditional cash transport companiess. SIRA has mandated the use of security bags that meet testing and certification requirements. The bags include smart alarm systems, sirens for security breaches, electronic locks, and protection against cutting or breaking tools. Dubai Police will conduct instant audits of transport operations through verification measures. Companies will also face fines for transporting gold beyond permitted limits without security measures.

Dubai, UAE: The 26th edition of Intersec, the world's biggest business event mapping the future of security, safety and fire protection, has showcased a record number of exhibitors, representing 61 countries, with the largest edition of the event occupying 61,000 sqm of space, a 20% year-on-year increase at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The event, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and concluded last month, welcomed 47,300 visitors from 142 countries, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and critical solutions across five key sectors: Commercial & Perimeter Security, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health, Cyber Security, and Homeland Security & Policing, in line with the show theme 'Mapping the Future of Security, Safety, and Fire Protection.' Wajahat Hussain, Show Manager, Messe Frankfurt Middle East, said: 'The team and I are thrilled to have welcomed an unprecedented gathering of industry professionals from around the world. Intersec has once again proven to be the premier platform where global leaders, innovators, and experts converge to exchange knowledge, forge partnerships, and explore cutting-edge advancements that are shaping the future of safety, security, and fire protection.
