Family of sprinters come together for successful athletic weekend

INVERCLYDE Athletic Club seniors celebrated a successful weekend. At Crownpoint Stadium in Glasgow, Millie McClelland-Brooks won the U20 Women's National 3000m Championship, finishing more than 10 seconds ahead of the second place. Grace Barry secured sixth place in the U17 Women's 3000m, an impressive feat given this was her second attempt at the distance and first year in the age group. Saturday saw Andy Douglas claim victory in the M35 category at the European Off-Road Masters Mountain Running Championships on Mount Etna, Sicily. He competed in the uphill 4.4K race, adding another title to his collection of national, European, and world mountain running championships. Advertisement (Image: Supplied) Meanwhile, in Scotland, the GAA Sprint Gala at Crownpoint Stadium witnessed Lochlann Steele run the 100m in under 11 seconds for the first time under legal wind conditions. His father and brother also participated in the event, making them contenders for the title of the fastest family in Inverclyde. (Image: Supplied) Darryn Steele, running in the M45 category, completed a windy 100m in 11.51 seconds, while Finlay Steele, in the U20 category, finished his 100m in 11.67 seconds under legal wind conditions. All of them were part of the Inverclyde Athletic Club's successful weekend.
