A Ruby Celebration! Prince William and Princess Kate are all smiles as they bump into comedian on wedding anniversary trip

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a surprise encounter with a comedy legend on their wedding anniversary trip. Ruby Wax, 72, spotted the royals on the Isle of Iona, in Scotland, after they had travelled there to meet the local community and learn about their way of life. Pictures show the couple beaming at a camera as they stand on each side of the American comedian. The pair had spent their 14th wedding anniversary carrying out engagements in nearby Mull before they boarded the ten-minute public CalMac ferry to Iona. They spent more than two hours there, with Kate photographed in the gift shop and the couple seen walking past Iona Abbey and walking off the public ferry. When they boarded the vessel for the short journey to Iona the couple spoke about the 'fantastic' time they had on the Isle of Mull where they had spent much of their two-day visit. Wax had been waiting to catch the boat in the opposite direction, where she was doing a silent retreat, when she bumped into the royals. She joked that she had broken a vow of silence to greet them saying, 'It's funny because I'm on a retreat there. 'And I thought, "Why are they interrupting my silent retreat? I mean, you could break the silent retreat for this". ' She said of meeting 42-year-old William: 'I didn't realise he was so good looking. He looks like his mother.' Earlier William and Kate were welcomed by a small crowd when they arrived at the small port of Fionnphort, where the CalMac ferry to the island was waiting. After greeting the well-wishers who lined the pier, the couple spoke with ferry staff, asking them about the challenges of running services, particularly in bad weather. William and Kate, 43, have celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary during their visit to the Inner Hebrides. On their second and final day there yesterday they visited the Ardura Community Forest, a haven for local families on the Isle of Mull. Kate was said to have been in her element when she spent time with an early-years outdoor play group learning about nature in the forest. The princess, who was joined by her husband, has made highlighting the development of children a central element of her public work and nature has played an important role while she was being treated for cancer. With the youngsters aged up to five running around, she reportedly spoke of the value of them getting 'outdoors as much as they can'. William told one father about the importance of communities: 'That's what we've lost, the ability to come together and know your neighbour,' and he went on to say: 'You can get lost in the cities.' Kate crouched down to speak to some of the children learning about their environment through simple tasks such as gathering flowers, and she later played with the youngsters by the neighbouring River Lussa, as they threw sticks into the water. Jan Dunlop from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service hosted much of the visit, and she said later about the couple: 'I think they loved it, I think they really did. 'Catherine would have stayed all day and you could see when she got to the water, that was it.' The couple were there to meet and learn more about the Mull and Iona Ranger Service who play a hugely important part in protecting and championing the local environment. Kate described the island as 'an amazing place to be on our anniversary'. The Ardura Acorns is one of the only early-years outdoor learning play groups on the island. It undertakes seasonal outdoor play, focusing on nature and wildlife including following trails, den building and storytelling.

Prince William and Kate took a boat trip between Scottish islands today as they enjoy a two-day visit to the Inner Hebrides. The royal couple met with staff at the Fionnphort ferry terminal in Mull before boarding a ferry to Iona to meet with the community there. For the second day in a row, Kate wore neutral, casual clothes, sporting a similar but different tweed jacket to the one she wore yesterday, with what appeared to be the same skinny jeans and boots. She wore her sunglasses on the ferry in the bright spring sunshine. 'Residents on the islands are highly dependent on the ferry routes, which are the only way to reach both islands and transport vital provisions back and forth,' Kensington Palace said in a statement. At the port, the couple was also photographed alongside actress and comedian Ruby Wax, who was apparently on holiday on the islands. Earlier in the day, William and Kate met rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at the Ardura Community Forest alongside families exploring the woodland. 'A powerful reminder of the importance of protecting the environment and the role outdoor learning plays in building connection and care for nature,' Kensington Palace posted on social media about the outing. It was announced before William and Kate arrived in Scotland that their royal Foundation is providing funding for two new rangers on the islands. Yesterday, on their 14th wedding anniversary, the couple spent the day on the Isle of Mull and stayed overnight in a self-catering holiday cottage. According to the Press Association, they spoke to locals about a private visit they had made to Mull when they were students at St Andrews University. Per The Times, Kate showed an interest in DIY and even said she had been given a chainsaw for Christmas as she joined in with renovations on a community hall in Tobermory. Prince William and Kate's Mull anniversary trip day two as they meet with local schoolchildren

Prince William and Kate Middleton are continuing their Scottish anniversary adventure on the Isle of Mull. The future King and Queen are marking 14 years married by exploring the island and honouring rural communities and kicked off their second day in Mull by engaging with nature. They met with countryside rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at the Ardura Community Forest on Wednesday morning to highlight the importance of protecting and championing the natural environment. The Community Forest regularly partner with local primary schools to ensure that every child on the islands get the opportunity to experience the beautiful natural environment around them. In pictures from the meeting, Kate beams with glee whilst dressed casually in jeans, boots and a blazer as the royal couple spent the second day on the island with schoolchildren taking part in an outdoor learning session tracking animals and building dens. In other snaps Kate is seen talking to the children during the session and even giving one young girl a high five. Kate also appears to be showing off a new hair-do as her luscious brown locks seem to have some new caramel highlights. Yesterday, William and Kate celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on the island and to mark the occasion they released a sweet snap on their social media accounts. The pair were pictured with their arms around each other facing out to sea on the shoreline. The picture was posted on the couple's official social media accounts with a heart emoji and signed with their initials. It said: 'Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome W & C.' The couple are thought to be staying in a self-catering cottage on the island and on Monday, they signalled their excitement to be visiting Mull with an official post on their Instagram page which read: "Looking forward to arriving in Mull tomorrow for two days celebrating and connecting with rural island communities in the beautiful Inner Hebrides." Having been together for over two decades, William and Kate's love story began at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Their friendship blossomed into romance, leading to their grand nuptials at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, where the aisle of the iconic Gothic church was adorned with trees. The couple welcomed their first child, Prince George, in 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018. Despite Kate's battle with cancer, their bond remains unbroken. William shares a unique connection with the Isle of Mull, as it forms part of the lands once governed by the Lord of the Isles, one of several Scottish titles he inherited from his father when Charles ascended the throne.
