President of the Irbid Chamber of Industry meets with an economic delegation from Kyrgyz knitwear factories as part of the "Industrial Tourism" programme implemented by the Kyrgyz private sector (Petra photo) AMMAN — President of the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) Hani Abu Hassan on Thursday briefed an economic delegation from several Kyrgyz knitwear factories on Irbid's industrial development, mainly in the garment and textile industry. The visit comes as part of the "Industrial Tourism" programme implemented by the Kyrgyz private sector, which aims to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations and open "new" horizons for cooperation in the industrial sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Abu Hassan referred to "significant" opportunities to develop "brotherly" relations, praising this visit, which reflects the "shared" desire to develop economic partnerships. Noting the Kingdom's advantages, he referred to Jordan's "strategic" geographical location, political and economic stability, and its "attractive" investment environment supported by a network of free trade agreements connecting Jordan to numerous global markets. Abu Hassan also noted diversity of industries in Irbid, mainly pharmaceutical, food, plastics, chemical, and textile industries, which constitute a "cornerstone" of the national economy and contribute "significantly" to Jordanian exports. The delegates expressed 'admiration' for the scale of Irbid's industrial development and the chamber's role in serving the industrial sector and facilitating the business environment. The delegates also hoped to transfer Jordan's expertise in supporting industry to Kyrgyzstan and build "cooperative" relations and partnerships with the Jordanian industrial sector. Talks during the meeting went over opportunities for cooperation for the two countries' industrialists, underlining importance of exchanging trade delegations, facilitating trade exchanges and transferring expertise in training and industrial development fields. The two sides agreed to continue coordination to develop "feasible" initiatives that would support bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in various economic and industrial fields, achieve common interests and contribute to the two countries' "sustainable" growth.

Minister of Local Administration Explains the New Building and Land Tax Law - Jordan News

The Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Waleed Al-Masri, stated that the reasons behind the new 2025 Building and Land Tax Law are to correct significant discrepancies in the valuation and estimation mechanisms that relied on local municipal committees. These committees often provided inaccurate and unfair assessments for citizens. اضافة اعلان During a discussion session organized by the Bani Ubaid Municipality on the "New Building and Land Tax Law," attended by members of parliament, mayors, and the head of the Irbid Chamber of Industry Hani Abu Hassan, Al-Masri explained that the new law seeks to eliminate human intervention in valuations. This is because properties in the same building or malls on the same street were previously taxed differently due to human judgment, which negatively affected fairness. Al-Masri also highlighted several key amendments, including: Appeals Process: Previously, decisions made by appeal committees were final and could not be contested, which was unfair and violated citizens' constitutional right to judicial review. Under the new law, it will be possible to appeal these decisions legally, ensuring more transparency and justice. Higher Discounts and Incentives: The new law includes increased tax discounts for citizens, covering all fees, including knowledge and sanitation fees. Agricultural Lands: The new law will only tax the buildable portion of agricultural land within municipal boundaries, rather than the entire area. Vacant Land: The tax will apply only to the allowed buildable percentage of the land (e.g., 39% for residential type A, 45% for type B, and 50% for commercial). Additionally, the exemption for vacant land will be increased to 60% (from 50%). Property Re-evaluation: Property revaluation will occur every 5 to 10 years to match market prices. Al-Masri emphasized that the goal of the law is not to increase taxes, but to create a fairer system and correct outdated laws. The aim is to support investment and ensure fairness while also improving municipal revenues and protecting citizens' rights.

$89 Million in Industrial Exports from Irbid for March - Jordan News

$89 Million in Industrial Exports from Irbid for March The total value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry for March 2025 amounted to approximately $89.3 million, compared to $67.2 million for March 2024, reflecting an increase of around 33% over the same period last year. اضافة اعلان The number of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry for February 2025 was 1,069, compared to 1,119 certificates for the same period last year. The increase in exports, as indicated by the certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry in March 2025, is attributed to a significant rise in exports from the leather and textiles sector, which accounts for nearly 88.5% of the exports. This sector saw a growth of 39.5%, reaching $79.1 million in March 2025, compared to approximately $56.7 million in March 2024. There was also notable growth in the exports of food and agricultural industries, with an increase of 29.8%. Countries with trade agreements account for most of the industrial exports, particularly the United States, which receives more than half of Irbid's exports (from the Al-Hassan Industrial City and Cyber City). Additionally, the Arab League agreement accounts for about 7% of Irbid's total exports. The Al-Hassan Industrial City dominates the majority of exporting establishments, with exports from this city constituting nearly 95% of the total exports according to certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry. This is followed by Cyber City, with exports accounting for no more than 4% of the total exports. Hani Abu Hassan, the head of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, noted that the growth in the total value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry in March 2025 is a direct result of the significant growth in exports from the leather, textiles, and food industries. He mentioned that exports from the Irbid Chamber of Industry under the Arab League agreement declined by 14.5% on a monthly basis for March 2025, reaching approximately $6.3 million compared to $7.5 million in March 2024. In contrast, exports under the U.S. trade agreement saw strong growth, increasing by more than 47% on a monthly basis in March 2025. Abu Hassan pointed out that exports from the Irbid Chamber of Industry under trade agreements accounted for 84.5% of total exports.
