Hononegah holds off Auburn on a bang-bang play at home plate in NIC-10 softball
ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Hononegah edged Auburn 5-4 Wednesday night in girls NIC-10 softball on a bang-bang play at the plate in the bottom of the seventh the game tied at four and two runners on base, Hononegah's Mal McMaster laid down a bunt. Auburn fielded it and threw to third trying to get the runner Megan Kelly who had made a wide turn there. Kelly then set sail for home sliding in just ahead of the tag at the plate as the umpire called her did a great job battling back from a 4-2 deficit in the top of the seventh. Maylee Baker and Natalee Jasso hit RBI singles to tie it at Kelly had three hits and two stolen bases in the game for Hononegah. Kenzi Haas drove in two Parr had three hits including a homerun for Auburn. Eva Ostergard also had three hits for the Lady the circle, Irelyn O'Brien pitched 5-plus innings for Hononegah allowing four runs and striking out six batters. Emma Tapia pitched one scoreless Auburn, Maylee Baker started and pitched six innings. She allowed five runs, and she struck out five view highlights of this game, watch the media player above.
