4A girls state hoops: 5 players who stood out in quarterfinals at the Tacoma Dome

Eight teams squared off in four games in the Class 4A girls high school state tournament bracket in the quarterfinal round on Thursday at the Tacoma Dome. Here are the results and five players who stood out from the session. No. 4 Woodinville 69, No. 6 Auburn 45 No. 8 Sumner 61, No. 7 Camas 47 No. 13 Glacier Peak 64, No. 3 Chiawana 62 No. 1 Davis 71, No. 2 Lake Washington 59 G/P Rikki Miller, Glacier Peak, sr. — Take your pick of solid performances from Glacier Peak, which pulled off another upset in the 4A bracket, this time against No. 3 Chiawana. We'll roll with Miller, who scored 18 points and had five rebounds and was on fire from deep, knocking down six 3-pointers. G Kawehi Borden, Sumner, soph. — Sumner's super sophomore was sensational in its win over defending 4A state champion Camas. Had 22 points with seven rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot and two steals. Shot 80 percent from the field, made one of her two 3-point attempts and went a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. F Jazlyn Wilkerson, Woodinville, jr. — Scored at will against Auburn, racking up 27 points, hitting four 3-pointers and pulling down 11 rebounds. Also had four assists, a steal and went 3-of-3 from the free throw line. G Cheyenne Hull, Davis, soph. — Hull burst onto the scene as a promising freshman last winter. Consider her transition into a full-blown statewide star complete. She dominated against Lake Washington, tallying 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, had 10 rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot and a steal. Also went 6-of-6 from the free throw line. G Isa Garcia, Davis, soph. — Garcia was feeling it from deep, making four of her five 3-point attempts en route to 20 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Sumner's Kawehi Borden on the team's 26-4 run: 'I think we knew from the beginning that we had it. So, at halftime we just collected ourselves and came back, had each other's backs and had better energy.' Davis guard Isa Garcia on the Pirates playing angry after regional loss to Sumner: 'After that loss at regionals, we're up and playing. We're ready to go. We're ready to get that state championship.'
