The team can't afford another loss. OU opened the WCWS with a 4-3 win over Tennessee, but a 4-2 loss to rival Texas put the team in a bad spot, forcing it to a winner-takes-all game on Sunday against Oregon, which the Sooners won 4-1. Each run for OU came on a home run. Isabela Emerling hit a solo shot in the second to tie the game at one, while Cydney Sanders hit the first of her two homers in the third, a two-run shot to left. Texas Tech is 52-12 and might be the hottest team in the country, winning 11 in a row. The team opened the World Series with a 1-0 win over Ole Miss and followed with a 3-1 win over UCLA. Pitcher Nijaree Canady has been the key to the team's success. If Oklahoma wins, the second game between these two teams will take place at 9:30 PM on ESPN2. Oklahoma softball eliminates Oregon from Women's College World Series
Oklahoma softball eliminates Oregon from Women's College World Series If the cliche fits: survive and advance. The Oklahoma softball team did just that Sunday night in Oklahoma City as the Sooners knocked Oregon out of the Women's College World Series with a 4-1 win. OU advanced to play Texas Tech on Monday at 6 p.m. If the Sooners win that game, the two will meet again Tuesday in a game that will determine which team plays for the national championship. Sunday's game was all about Cydney Sanders. The OU first bagger popped two home runs, the first of which, a two-run shot, broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning, to lead the Sooners to victory. She hit her second in the fifth inning, a solo shot, to give Oklahoma a 4-1 lead. Both times she took the ball deep over the left field fence. Oklahoma was in position to take the lead after Isabela Emerling hit a solo home run in the second inning to tie the game. OU starter Kierston Deal gave up a solo shot herself in the top of the frame that gave Oregon the game's first lead. Sooners ace Sam Landry entered in the third inning and was on point. Landry worked the final 4 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out five on 65 pitches, keeping her fresh enough to likely pitch two games Monday if OU needs them. Oklahoma's win Sunday clinched a ninth straight year in the WCWS semifinals. If the Sooners beat Texas Tech in the first game Monday night, the two would meet again immediately after.

Oklahoma softball takes Game 1 from rival Texas on Friday
Oklahoma softball takes Game 1 from rival Texas on Friday Horns down. Literally. The third-ranked Oklahoma softball team knocked off its greatest rival, No. 2 Texas, in Game 1 of an important three-game Southeastern Conference series on Friday, 7-6. Texas had just leapfrogged Oklahoma, the four-time defending national champions, in the NFCA/Gorout Coaches Poll earlier in the week ahead of their meeting in Norman. In what was an opposite of the Sooners' baseball team's game Friday, OU had to hold off the Horns from Love Field. Oklahoma jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings. The Sooners chased Texas starter Teagan Kavan after she retired just seven batters. Isabela Emerling opend the scoring in the second inning with an RBI groundout. Oklahoma broke things open in the third, though. Gabbie Garcia hit a one-out solo home run to provide a 2-0 lead. Ella Parker and Nelly McEnroe-Marinas followed with back-to-back singles and Cydney Sanders walked to load the bases. Ailana Agbayani, who finished 3 for 3 in the game, took the very next pitch, which would Kavan's last, over the wall for a grand slam, sending the Love Field crowd into a frenzy. Texas clawed back with two runs in the fourth and another three in the fifth before Agbayani plated another run with an RBI double in the bottom of that inning to provide the necessary insurance. The Longhorns would load the bases on Oklahoma starter Sam Landry in the seventh and score one on her wild pitch. But with runners on second and third base and trailing by a run, Texas flied out to centerfield to end things. McEnroe-Marinas joined Agbanyani with a 3-for-3 game and Hannah Coor joined those teammates, Parker, and Garcia as the Sooners to collect hits. Landry gave up six hits and walked three while striking out five in her complete game.

No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners beat UCF Knights 6-0 for third straight win
No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners beat UCF Knights 6-0 for third straight win The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners needed the weekend they've had so far at Love's Field. On Friday, the Sooners beat former Big 12 foe UCF, 6-0, to win their third straight game. Oklahoma lost its first series at home in over a decade last weekend when Tennessee came to Norman and took two of three games. The Sooners had this Thursday through Saturday off from SEC play and played in the Okana Invitational at home. After beating St. Thomas on Thursday, OU followed that up with a shutout against the Knights. It came relatively easily, as Oklahoma allowed just three base-runners over seven innings in the win. Starter Sam Landry picked up her 11th win of the season, working 4 2/3 innings, giving up three hits while striking out four. It was plenty of good work, as teammates quickly staked her to a lead. Isabela Emerling hit an RBI double, and she later scored on a rundown in the second inning to open a 2-0 lead. In the next frame, OU plated four more as Ella Parker's grand slam cleared the bases and ensured the Sooners' victory. It was Parker's sixth home home run of the season but just her second long ball since March 1. Emerling joined Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, Gabbie Garcia, Kasidi Pickering, and Hannah Coor with two hits apiece for the Sooners. Oklahoma, which is now 34-3 overall, will play Oklahoma State on Wednesday in Oklahoma City for a nonconference Bedlam affair after Saturday's matchup with UCF was canceled due to weather.
