High school roundup: Spence, Fayle key Lowville boys basketball win over Watertown
Feb. 5—LOWVILLE — Isaiah Spence scored 23 points and Michael Fayle scored 20 as Lowville took the lead in the first quarter and held it for a 79-68 victory over Watertown in a Frontier League "A-B" Division boys basketball game Tuesday.
The Red Raiders, 8-7 overall, avenged a 77-58 loss to the Cyclones (11-7) on Jan. 10 in Watertown.
Ethan Myers added 12 points for Lowville, which led 24-18 after one quarter and 43-34 at halftime.
Jack Adams supplied 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals for Watertown. Mason Hurst contributed 16 points, six rebounds and seven steals. Aydin Bryan scored 14 points.
INDIAN RIVER 64, CARTHAGE 61
Reagan Ross put up 24 points and recorded eight rebounds and five assists as the Wolves held off the Comets in the "A-B" Division game in Carthage.
Mason Rowley added 15 points and five assists, and Ariel Raymond supplied 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists and four steals for Indian River (10-7).
Michael Ventiquattro poured in 28 points for Carthage (0-18). Rylan Pellanda scored 22.
SACKETS HARBOR 45, SANDY CREEK 39
Marcus Castine scored 25 points and added seven rebounds as the Patriots won the defensive battle with the Comets in a "C-D" Division game in Sandy Creek.
Luke Peters contributed eight points and Dylan Aubert six points and six rebounds for Sackets Harbor (14-3).
Hudson Hunt scored 11 points for Sandy Creek (9-7), and Caylon Zehr added nine. Aiden Rudd grabbed 14 rebounds.
ALEXANDRIA 51, IMMACULATE HEART 35
Troy Newberry delivered a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Purple Ghosts jumped to an early lead and beat the Cavaliers in a "C-D" Division game in Watertown.
Chris Gibbs followed with 12 points and Nathan Hoffman recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and five steals for Alexandria (5-13), which led 18-5 after one quarter against IHC (0-14).
PULASKI 77, LYME 36
Sam Mooney delivered a career-high 33 points to highlight the Blue Devils' nonleague victory over the Lakers in Chaumont.
Jessie Fiumano added 10 points and Michele Venturini recorded a career-best six blocks for Pulaski (8-6).
CANTON 64, GOUVERNEUR 46
Zadock Roiger connected for 27 points as the Golden Bears stayed unbeaten with a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division win over the Wildcats in Gouverneur.
Roiger added five rebounds and four steals for Canton. Jackson Ames hit four 3-pointers en route to 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Raine Rumble put up a game-high 30 points for Gouverneur.
MALONE 70, OFA 63
Cameron Keating paced the Huskies with 16 points as Malone held off an Ogdensburg Free Academy comeback try in a Central Division victory in Malone.
Isaac Baker and Blake Hannah each scored 13 points for Malone, which led by 17 at halftime. Ryan Hesseltine added nine points.
Ian Rose led all scorers with 23 points for the Blue Devils. Jack Pike added 12 points and Cam Cree 11.
LISBON 63, EDWARDS-KNOX 43
Cooper Rutherford struck for 33 points as the Golden Knights celebrated Senior Night with an Northern Athletic Conference West Division victory over the Cougars in Lisbon.
Isaiah White and Ian Quinlan added 10 points apiece for Lisbon.
Cooper Allen and Kale Gear each scored eight points for Edwards-Knox.
HEUVELTON 49, HAMMOND 39
Colt McAllister put up a game-high 21 points to lead the Bulldogs to the NAC West Division win over the Red Devils in Heuvelton.
Cory Ethridge contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals for Heuvelton. Parker Felt added nine points.
Landon Howie recorded a double-double of 14 points and 21 rebounds for Hammond. Hudson Arquitt corralled 11 rebounds.

GENERAL BROWN 54, SOUTH JEFFERSON 28
Madelyn Ferris posted a double-double of 10 points and 17 rebounds, also contributing five assists, in the Lions' Frontier League "A-B" Division victory against the Spartans in Dexter.
Kendyl Sanford scored a team-high 12 points for General Brown (14-3), and Leah Ferris chipped in eight points and two blocks.
Brooke Perry paced South Jefferson (9-7) with 13 points.
INDIAN RIVER 49, CARTHAGE 39
Allison LaMora scored 14 points, pulled down nine rebounds and made four blocks in the Wolves' "A-B" Division win against the Comets in Carthage.
Laylah Whyte added 13 points, six rebounds and four steals for Indian River (14-2), which also received 10 points and five steals from Keera LaLonde.
Stella Roes scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Carthage (7-10). Emma Makuch added nine points.
LISBON 44, EDWARDS-KNOX 41
Alli Bell connected for 16 points as the Golden Knights wrapped up their first Northern Athletic Conference West Division title in 24 years by getting past the Cougars in Russell.
Adia Richards followed with 12 points and Kylie Quinlan added seven for Lisbon (16-0, 10-0).
Addison Foster recorded a game-high 17 points for Edwards-Knox (10-5), Cam Huckle added 12 points and Kiana Hogle nine.
MALONE 94, OFA 27
Olivia Simser hit four 3-pointers en route to 28 points as the unbeaten Huskies raced past the Blue Devils in an NAC Central Division game in Ogdensburg.
Reagan McArdle added five 3-pointers and 25 total points for Malone, while Chloe LaBelle added four 3-pointers and 17 points. Alyvia Roberts scored 20 more points.
Amya LaFlair led OFA with 10 points.
VOLLEYBALL
CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 3, WATERTOWN 2
Mia Russo recorded 14 kills and added 14 digs and four aces as the eight-seeded Thunder outlasted the ninth-seeded Cyclones in a Class A play-in match in the Section 3 tournament in Ilion.
Central Valley Academy (7-11) advanced with a 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 15-10 victory.
Trinity Pederson and Miley Rando each added nine kills for the Thunder.
Molly Dickinson served for 15 points and made six kills and seven digs for Watertown (4-14). Lila Adams served for 12 points and totaled 13 assists. Nalyssia Weaver posted seven kills and five blocks, and Anna Powell finished with 10 points and 11 digs.
SOUTH LEWIS 3, PORT BYRON 0
The No. 8 Falcons swept the No. 9 Panthers 25-18, 25-15, 25-24 in a Class C first round match in Turin.
South Lewis (13-7) advanced to face top-seeded Mt. Markham (16-0) in a quarterfinal match Friday at Mount Markham.
Alivia Mills provided 10 service points and four kills for Port Byron (8-11).
