Fareham man who sent racist social media message to footballer banned from all games
A man who sent a 'vile and disgusting' racist message to a professional footballer on social media has been banned from attending any matches for three years. Harry Dunbar, 20, from Fareham, Hampshire, sent racial slurs via Instagram to Christopher Wreh, following an FA Cup match between Tamworth and Tottenham Hotspur on January 12. When interviewed by police, Dunbar admitted sending the message because he had lost a bet, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said. Police said Wreh had come on as a substitute for Tamworth in the game. When he later checked his Instagram, he found he had received a message from an account he did not know called 'Dunztagram'. Shocked, he posted a screenshot of the message including the username and then shared it on his social media. 'After an amazing day today, this is the last thing I expected to see when I opened Instagram,' he wrote in the post. 'Nevertheless, thank you for all the support today. Fans were unreal.' This post was viewed more than 1.7 million times, and Wreh was contacted and sent personal messages by others who identified the account holder as Dunbar, who was living in Hampshire at the time. Wreh shared this with the dedicated football officer (DFO) for Tamworth at Staffordshire Police, who then passed this on to the UK Football Policing Unit and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary's dedicated Football Unit. Dunbar, in Whiteley, was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated malicious communications and his phone was seized. Although the Instagram account had been removed, it was identified that he was the owner of the 'Dunztagram' account'. In interview he then admitted sending the message because he had lost a bet. Dunbar was sentenced at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, where he was handed a three-year football banning order, a 12-month community order of 200 hours unpaid work, and 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days. Superintendent Adrian Hall, head of the operations unit for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, said: 'Just because Christopher Wreh was a footballer, Dunbar decided he had the right to send him a tirade of racist insults. 'Nobody should ever be subjected to such vile and disgusting abuse, regardless of what they do for a living. 'I am absolutely appalled by the racist language used by Dunbar, but immensely thankful to Christopher Wreh for his bravery in standing up to this horrible abuse and assisting the police investigation. 'Thanks to Christopher, this man will not have the privilege of going to football matches and that is an important result from this case, as racism doesn't belong in football stadiums or anywhere else in society.' The Football Banning Order means Dunbar, of John Bunyan Close, is banned from every football ground in the country and unable to travel abroad when international games are happening for a period of three years.

Electric car bursts into flames on driveway and destroys £550,000 family home
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A house has been destroyed by fire after an electric car suddenly caught alight on the driveway. The vehicle was parked outside the home in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire and had been charging overnight when it caught fire at about 5am on Friday. Crews from three different fire stations raced to the scene as the flames spread to two other cars on the driveway and reached the front of the home. CCTV footage captured the roaring fire as it spewed black smoke into the air and started to spread. Thankfully everyone inside the house was evacuated and nobody suffered any injuries. But pictures taken in daylight show the front of the house has been severely damaged, with several windows blown out and bricks and woodwork stained black with smoke. Several roof tiles have fallen and the burnt out wreckage of the vehicles still remains on the driveway. Aside from a van, the other vehicles on the drive are completely unrecognisable. The white bricks of a neighbouring house also appear to have been stained by the smoke. A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: 'Firefighters tackled a fire involving a number of vehicles which spread to a house on Charlecote Drive in Chandler's Ford this morning. 'Crews from Eastleigh, Redbridge and St Mary's were alerted shortly before 5am when multiple 999 calls were made into the control room reporting the blaze. 'Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters entered the property to extinguish the fire using hose reels and jets. 'Fortunately, there were no casualties involved. 'The electricity, gas and water supply to the building was isolated before the incident was handed over to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary officers.' More Trending Neighbours say the home, estimated to be worth around £550,000 belongs to a young family who were thankfully able to escape the house unharmed. One neighbour said: 'I was probably the last to hear about it on the block. The fire was going when I got up, and the house was beginning to catch. 'Flames were coming out the door and window. I was frightened for the young family.' Plane bursts into flames after holiday park crash on Isle of Wight
A light aircraft crashed into a holiday park on the Isle of Wight on Saturday, emergency services said. Police were called at 2.23pm on Saturday to a report that a light aircraft had crashed in Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park. The plane had two people on board, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary added. Two people suffered minor injuries in the incident near Bembridge, according to the local fire service. James Lowe, a sales manager from Horsham in Sussex said he witnessed the plane come over his head and heard the engine cut out. Mr Lowe, a head coach for a local under-13s rugby club, was in the Isle of Wight accompanying a group on a rugby tour. 'We were outside the restaurant at the top of the holiday park watching our kids playing archery,' Mr Lowe told the PA news agency. He said: 'I've just passed my Private Pilot's License (PPL) so we were talking about planes and watching the planes take off also. 'This plane came over our heads and the engine cut out. 'They then turned back to the airport but lost a lot of altitude and we could see it was going to crash into the holiday park. 'Myself and another Dad ran to help. Thank goodness the pilot and passenger had been pulled to safety.' Firefighters from Newport and Ryde were dispatched shortly before 2.30pm and on arriving, found the aircraft 'had suffered extensive damage from the impact and subsequent fire', Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Services said. 'All occupants had safely exited the aircraft before emergency services arrived', it added. Inspector Alex Dale said the plane had taken off from Bembridge Airport, banked around and then clipped a chimney before crashing near the chalets at the holiday park, according to Isle of Wight County Press. The inspector said the plane burst into flames and bystanders rushed to pull out two people, the news outlet reported. An ambulance plane attended and no patients were taken to hospital, Isle of Wight NHS Trust said. The fire service added: 'Two individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at the scene. 'Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.' Firefighters stood down and returned to their stations at 3.45pm. The holiday park remains open and no roads have been closed, police said.
