The project includes new pavements, buffered bike lanes, landscaping/irrigation, traffic signals with adaptive signalization controls, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), lighting, pavement markings, signage and a wider ADA compliant sidewalk. The funding for construction is $11,500,000 in total. $2,990,400 is in federal funding, $8,000,000 in State House Bill 2 funds, and $509,600 in county matching funds. 'This project has been in the works for several years due to antiquated infrastructure,' said Commissioner Frank Baca in a news release. 'This represents a substantial investment in the safety of our roadways and sidewalks. I would like to thank the state and federal governments for their contributions. I look forward to the startup date and community members will be made fully aware of any changes to traffic patterns as it progresses.' Construction is slated to begin in fall 2025. It will take at least 18 months to complete. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
