"Al Sharqiya from Kalba Rowing Championship" kicks off January 31

The conference was attended by His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and Chairman of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club; His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council (SSC); His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA); His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of Sharjah Government Media Bureau; His Excellency Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, Director General of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club; Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of SBA; Ismail Issa Al Hosani, Director of Al Sharqiya Channel from Kalba; Mohammed Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Sports Channel; representatives of the sponsoring companies and a large number of media representatives. The Director of Al Sharqiya Channel from Kalba explained that the championship is held on Kalba Beach and includes two categories; the first category is the nationals' category, in addition to the open category. Promoting traditional marine sports Al Hosani stressed that the championship aims to promote the practice of traditional marine sports, highlight the region's rich heritage, in addition to providing an enjoyable experience for the public, through many accompanying events and competitions. Cultural Activities For his part, His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa stated that Al Sharqiya from Kalba Rowing Championship is distinguished by its combination of sporting events and recreational and cultural activities that contribute to enhancing tourism and attracting visitors from inside and outside the UAE. He added that this championship is not just a competitive platform that brings together elite athletes, but it is also an opportunity to introduce the world to the beauty of tourist attractions and rich culture. His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami said that the pioneering idea of organising the Eastern Kalba Rowing Championship has become a tangible reality thanks to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, expressing his great confidence that the championship will be well-organised and attended by a large audience, thanking SBA and Sharjah International Marine Sports Club for their efforts to make the championship a success.
