(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will record Jovian Mandagie's statement in Jakarta, Indonesia, soon after Aidiladha to assist in its investigation into former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob. MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said his officers have managed to contact Jovian, Ismail's former son-in-law, to arrange for the recording of his statement, Harian Metro reported. 'We expect to take Jovian's statement several days after Hari Raya Haji,' Azam was quoted as saying. Hari Raya Haji is likely to fall on June 6. Azam previously said Jovian's statement was needed to verify claims made by Ismail, who had declared his assets in February. He said Ismail had claimed there were assets linked to Jovian, who was previously married to Nina Sabrina Ismail Sabri before their divorce in 2023. MACC has so far taken the statements of 57 people in its investigation into the discovery of RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, which were seized in raids on the residences of four men, and three other premises believed to be 'safe houses'. A moneychanger was also arrested as part of the investigation into Ismail.

YKM brings festive cheer to Covid-19 affected families in Sabah

Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob presenting gifts to Arvina Chris Nolvi, one of YKM's recipients, during his recent visit. KOTA KINABALU: When Arvina Chris Nolvi lost her husband to Covid-19 three years ago, she felt helpless as she had no fixed income and four school-going children to raise. For the full-time housewife from Kampung Kilirip, Kinarut in Papar, it was not just the loss of a loved one. Her husband, Henry Bisara, who passed away on February 15, 2022, had also been the family's sole breadwinner. Help arrived through Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia (YKM), which has been supporting Nolvi and her children since Bisara's passing, bringing much-needed relief and hope. The family had the opportunity to thank YKM chairman and former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob personally during his visit to their home on Friday (May 23). He said the visit was part of YKM's Ziarah Kasih initiative held in conjunction with the Kaamatan (Harvest) Festival. Ismail Sabri added that these visits have become a tradition for the foundation during major festive celebrations under the Keluarga Malaysia concept. "YKM beneficiaries are found across the country, including Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. During each festive season, the foundation organises Ziarah Kasih visits and distributes aid to ensure that every recipient can celebrate joyfully with their family. "This visit also reaffirms YKM's commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that no family affected by Covid-19 is overlooked or left behind," he added. Also present was the political secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister I and Papar Umno division chief, Datuk Jamal Norubit @ Nerubi. Following the visit to Nolvi's home, the YKM team continued their outreach to another recipient, Husidah Ahali, in Kampung Pomotodon, Inanam. Husidah lost her husband to Covid-19 and now supports her four children with only RM400 a month from selling traditional snacks. The Ziarah Kasih programme concluded with a visit to Maslinah Abdul Manaf in Kampung Inanam Laut, who also lost her husband to Covid-19 on August 15, 2021. Maslinah, an online entrepreneur, now depends on digital platforms and YKM's assistance to make ends meet. In addition to these visits, YKM also extended festive aid to 14 Dayak recipients in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak celebration. Ismail Sabri expressed hope that all parties, especially local communities in remote areas, would help spread the word about the assistance available for those impacted by Covid-19. The public is encouraged to contact YKM via email at admin@ or by calling 03-22027493.

MACC to quiz Ismail Sabri's former son-in-law in Indonesia

Jovian Mandagie was previously married to Ismail Sabri Yaakob's daughter, Nina Sabrina, before their divorce in 2023. (Facebook pic) PUTRAJAYA : The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will question Jovian Mandagie, the former son-in-law of ex-prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in Indonesia as part of its ongoing investigation into Ismail's asset declaration. MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said Jovian's statement was needed to verify claims made by Ismail, who had declared his assets in February. 'We need to get his (Jovian's) cooperation. There are assets said to be linked to him, as stated by Ismail Sabri. We need confirmation,' Azam told a press conference at the MACC headquarters here today. 'He is in Indonesia, and he is an Indonesian. So we will have to meet him there. We are hoping to make the trip in a week or two to speed up matters.' Jovian was previously married to Ismail's daughter, Nina Sabrina, before their divorce in 2023. Azam said MACC has so far recorded statements from 57 individuals as part of the investigation. He also confirmed that MACC has completed its analysis of Ismail's assets and will submit its findings to the Attorney-General's Chambers by the end of June. 'We are factoring in that he (Ismail) has been involved in the private sector and has held company shares. These are being considered to ensure a fair assessment of his income,' he said. Asked whether Ismail will be called in for further questioning, Azam said: 'It depends on our findings. He may or may not be called.' Ismail resumed giving his statement to MACC on April 24 as part of its second phase of questioning on his asset declaration. The most recent session was on May 7. MACC is investigating the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, which were seized in raids on the residences of four men, and three other premises believed to be 'safe houses'. A money changer was also arrested as part of the probe into Ismail.
