The attack happened just before 11 a.m. in Central Queensland, according to the Australia Broadcasting Corporation. Police and paramedics arrived shortly after and the child was taken to a nearby hospital on a rescue helicopter.
A hospital and health service spokesperson said the child's condition was stable, per the Australian outlet.A spokesperson for Issac regional Council said to ABC that the attack happened on private property and animal control officers were at the house in light of the attack.
'Council takes these matters seriously,' the spokesperson said to the outlet. 'As part of the investigation, the animal involved will be seized and held in council's care pending the outcome of our inquiries.'
