Libya condemns Israeli occupation's nuclear threats against civilians in Gaza
Issam Bin Zaytoun, minister plenipotentiary at Libya's mission to the United Nations, condemned—on behalf of the Arab group—the nuclear threats made by Israeli heritage minister Amichai Eliyahu against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
This came during Libya's participation in the third session of the preparatory committee for the 2026 review conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which began on April 28.
In his speech, Bin Zaytoun described the call to use a nuclear bomb as a flagrant violation and reckless disregard of international laws and treaties that prohibit the use or threat of nuclear weapons.
The Libyan mission also firmly rejected any threat to use or possess nuclear weapons outside the framework of international agreements, stressing the urgent need for the Israeli entity to immediately join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. News Tagged: Israel
