2 dead, one injured after 4WD plunges into ravine in Sabah

(Polis Daerah Penampang Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA: Two people were killed and another injured after the four-wheel-drive they were in lost control and plunged into a ravine at Kampung Moyog, Penampang, near Kota Kinabalu in Sabah last night. According to a Bernama report, the fire and rescue department's Sabah operations centre said the two, aged 54 and 49, were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. 'We received an emergency call at 8.15pm and dispatched nine firefighters along with one fire engine to the scene,' said the centre. A Kosmo report also identified the three victims as cousins, the two deaths being driver Steve Oyong, 54, and passenger Rayner Jentolmin @ Condrad, 49, and the injured victim being Maxwell Minor, 29. They were apparently on their way back to Kampung Madsiang after attending a wedding in Tambunan, when the Isuzu Bighorn they were driving overturned and fell into the ravine. Wedding joy turns tragic as cousins killed in crash
PENAMPANG: Two cousins died and another was injured when their car veered off the road and plunged into a ravine along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan near Kampung Moyog last night. The 8pm crash claimed the lives of the driver, Steve Oyong, 54, and a passenger, Rayner Jentolmin@Condrad, 49. The only survivor, Maxwell Minor, 29, was taken to hospital for treatment. They were returning to Kampung Madsiang after attending a relative's wedding in Tambunan. Penampang Fire and Rescue Station chief Zeno Tingalan said an emergency call was received at 8.15pm. "Nine personnel, along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, were deployed to the location, about 28km from the station," he said in a statement today. He said the crash involved an Isuzu Bighorn, which skidded and plunged into a ravine. "The team retrieved all three victims. Two were confirmed dead at the scene, while the injured man was given initial treatment by EMRS before being sent to hospital," he said. Zeno said the bodies were handed over to the police for further action, and the operation concluded at 10.37pm.
