Ithaca Police warn of man impersonating maintenance worker in South Hill area
ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) — People in Ithaca's South Hill area have reported a man pretending to be a maintenance worker and going or trying to go into homes, according to a release from the Ithaca Police Department.
Police said the man has shown up at several houses claiming he was there for maintenance work and went into or tried to get into the homes, but after looking into it, police found he isn't connected to any legitimate service.

As stated in the release, residents described the person as a white man in his mid-30s, around 6'5″ tall with an average build. Further stated in the release, residents claim he has short blonde hair that's starting to gray, a beard, and a thin stripe tattoo on his right forearm. He was last seen wearing black work boots, cargo pants, and a dark hoodie over a gray t-shirt. He was also driving a dark-colored four-door sedan, residents explained in the release.
The IPD is asking people to be cautious and verify the identity of anyone who claims to be from a business or service before letting them in.
