Despite Celtic's assertive start, dominating possession, they encountered a resolute Iveragh United defence that proved difficult to unlock in the opening half. Iveragh themselves carved out several promising scoring opportunities, but crucial final passes consistently went astray in the attacking third. When Celtic managed to breach the Iveragh defence, they found goalkeeper Sean Griffin in inspired form, pulling off a string of excellent saves to keep the scoreline blank.
