‘Manipulation' of JEE scores: HC wants probe to be expedited
New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the director of the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) to expedite the investigation ordered in a petition filed by two candidates alleging manipulation of their scorecards in JEE (Main)-2025. The single judge bench of Justice Vikas Mahajan passed the order after being informed that the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), to which the probe was initially ordered, did not have the logistics for conducting the investigation. "Accordingly, the director of NCFL is requested to ascertain the facts in terms of the questions posed by the court in the order dated May 14. The director is requested to expedite the investigation and furnish a report in a sealed cover on or before May 29, in view of the urgency since the result of JEE (Advanced)-2025 will be declared on June 2," the bench said. The court granted liberty to the director to ask for any further information or to inspect any record of National Testing Agency which is relevant to the controversy at hand. A letter received by the registrar general of the high court said that the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) was the nodal agency under the ministry of electronics and information technology which has the facility to conduct the investigation. The counsel appearing for CERT submitted that even the said nodal agency did not have the mandate and capability of performing network forensics and server imaging. As the counsel suggested the name of NCFL for conducting the probe, the counsel appearing for the petitioners also agreed to the said suggestion. Two candidates approached the high court and alleged that the final scorecard with respect to the first session of the exam was manipulated. They submitted that the scorecards downloaded initially were no longer available on the website of National Testing Agency; instead, the allegedly manipulated scorecards with incorrect scores were uploaded. The agency submitted that there was no manipulation in the scorecard and that the scorecards were also sent through emails to both the candidates.

Delhi HC orders CBI & forensic probe into JEE Mains score ‘mismatch'
File photo NEW DELHI: Delhi high court has directed a CBI probe supported by forensic exam into alleged manipulation of JEE (Mains) 2025 scorecards, after two candidates claimed discrepancies in their results. Justice Vikas Mahajan ordered during a hearing on May 14 that the case be referred to Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and CBI. 'Both parties are ad idem that to find out the truth... it is imperative to refer the matter to experts,' the court said. Next hearing is scheduled for May 23. Candidates must provide registered email IDs to court registry for CFSL verification. CFSL director has been requested to expedite the inquiry and submit findings in sealed cover by May 22, considering urgency as JEE (Advanced) 2025 results will be declared on June 2. Court barred CFSL from disclosing any findings during probe, calling such information potentially sensitive. Petitioners alleged original scorecards from first session of exam, initially available on National Testing Agency (NTA) website, had been replaced with altered versions showing incorrect scores. One petitioner said the original percentile made him eligible for JEE (Advanced), and requested relief. CFSL may contact petitioners for assistance or information, court said. According to NTA, no human interference occurs and entire process is managed by National Informatics Centre. Justice Mahajan allowed one candidate to register for JEE (Advanced), directing that application be processed, though deadline had passed on May 2.
