Cucumbers across US have been recalled over salmonella. What to know in Wisconsin
JFE Franchising, Inc. is recalling items containing cucumbers sold in 16 states, including Wisconsin, over concerns of salmonella, according to a May 20 recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The Houston, Texas-based company is recalling sushi kits and other items containing fresh-cut cucumbers, though the sushi kits have already passed their expiration dates.
"JFE Franchising, Inc. is committed to implementing all measures necessary to fully resolve this situation," the recall notice said. "The safety and wellbeing of our consumers is our top priority."
Affected cucumbers were grown by Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales, which were first voluntarily recalled on May 19. Other companies using the produce or repackaging them under different brand names have since initiated other recalls.
