UAE's Jiu-Jitsu team wins six medals at Grand Prix Paris Open

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team made a strong start at the Grand Prix Paris Open 2025, winning six medals – four gold and two silver – on the opening day of the championship. The event was held in the French capital with the participation of 400 male and female athletes from 30 countries. Gold medals were secured by Shamma Al Kalbani (63kg), Omar Ali Alsuwaidi (56kg), Mayed Al Shehhi (62kg) and Mohammed Al Suwaidi (69kg). The silver medals were won by Theyab Alnuaimi (56kg) and Khaled Al Shehhi (62kg). Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attributed the team's success to the Federation's extensive training regimen and well-structured plans. 'These results reflect the athletes' hard work and commitment. The National Team's strong performance marks an important step towards upcoming events, particularly the JJAU Regional Championship West Asia in Jordan, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, and the World Games 2025 in China,' he said. 'I congratulate the athletes who have excelled and outperformed a group of prominent competitors thanks to their determination and discipline. There is still a chance to add more medals on the final day of the championship.'

18 Apr 2025 20:22 ABU DHABI (WAM) The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) Board of Directors held its regular meeting on Wednesday at the Federation's headquarters in Abu Dhabi to evaluate the current season's achievements and review preparations for the 17th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu by Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAEJJF, President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the meeting addressed upcoming continental and international competitions for the National expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, for their continued support of the sport. He noted that this support remains key to the UAE's sustained success in regional and global board discussed ongoing strategic initiatives to enhance the sport's reach and reviewed the detailed schedule and logistical preparations for the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, set for Chairman Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri emphasised the championship's global stature and reaffirmed the Federation's commitment to hosting an exceptional event that reflects Abu Dhabi's status as a leading sports meeting also covered plans for the UAE National Team's participation in key international events, including the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Thailand, the JJAU Regional Championship West Asia in Jordan, the JJIF World Cup in Croatia, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, and the World Games 2025 in include intensive training camps to enhance athlete readiness across all categories. The board reviewed local club development, identified challenges and growth opportunities, and outlined steps to support talent development and community 2025 budget was reviewed to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and the continued advancement of the UAE's jiu-jitsu ecosystem. The meeting concluded with agreement on the need for enhanced collaboration and partnerships to sustain the UAE's leadership in global jiu-jitsu.
