Eyewitness Weather Forecast for May 22 — Memorial Day Weekend Forecast
HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR THURSDAY, MAY 22 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED: A powerful coastal storm is developing off the Mid-Atlantic and slowly moving northeast! Because the wind around it is coming from the north-northeast, it's dragging in some unusually cold air, cold enough that we might even set records for low daytime highs. It'll also be pretty windy, especially in southeastern New England, where gusts could reach over 50 mph. At the same time, there's a weaker system hanging out near Lake Ontario that's not doing much right now. That one will slowly drift east tonight and eventually get absorbed by the stronger coastal storm. Once that happens, the main storm will move up into New England on Saturday and continue toward the Canadian Maritimes by Memorial Day. In the meantime, we're in for a stretch of rainy, chilly, and cloudy weather. Tonight, we'll see periods of light rain, with up to about a half-inch falling in total. Temperatures won't change much due to the persistent clouds and rain. Friday stays wet and quite cold for late May, with highs barely getting out of the 40s or low 50s. The rain becomes more scattered Friday night into Saturday, but a few showers will still hang around, thanks to leftover moisture and cold air higher up in the atmosphere. Saturday might be a bit warmer, but it'll still feel more like early spring than late May. By Sunday, the storm begins to pull away, but we'll still feel its effects with some clouds and a few pop-up showers possible, especially inland during the afternoon. Memorial Day looks like the best day of the weekend—mostly dry with some sunshine and temperatures climbing back into the 60s. Unfortunately, the nice weather won't last. Another storm system is expected to arrive by midweek, bringing more rain sometime around Tuesday night or Wednesday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Eyewitness Weather for Tuesday, May 20 — Another rainy end to the week
HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR TUESDAY, MAY 20 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED: Later tonight, the weather starts to shift as rain begins to move in after midnight, starting in western New York and spreading across the region by Wednesday afternoon! It's going to be a damp and chilly Wednesday, and if you're in the southern areas, you might even hear a rumble or two of thunder. Some spots could see heavier rainfall, especially across the Southern Tier. The rain doesn't stop there—it'll continue Wednesday night and stick around through the end of the week. Thursday and Friday are looking pretty dreary, with cool, cloudy, and damp conditions as a slow-moving system lingers over the area. Highs will only reach the 50s on Thursday, and Friday could be even cooler, with nighttime lows dipping into the 40s. Fortunately, the Memorial Day Weekend brings a lot of relief. Saturday may still see some leftover showers thanks to a lingering low-pressure system over New England. Sunday and Memorial Day Monday will offer a bit of a break. What's more? Temperatures should start to climb back toward more typical levels as we move into early next week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Eyewitness Weather for Monday, May 19 — Bundle up for the week ahead!
HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR MONDAY, MAY 19 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED: The week kicks off with some cool but overall pleasant weather! Tuesday will bring more sunshine and dry air, though it'll still feel a bit chilly, with highs only in the 50s to near 60. Tonight, skies will clear up for most areas, and with light winds and colder air settling in, there's a good chance of frost in sheltered spots—so it's a good idea to cover any sensitive plants. Tuesday itself looks pretty nice: a cold start, but then plenty of sunshine with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s and 60s. Unfortunately, that nice stretch won't last. Late Tuesday night into Wednesday, the weather shifts. Clouds return, and rain will move into Western and Central New York, continuing on and off through at least Thursday night. Some southern spots could pick up as much as an inch and a half of rain. The North Country might hold off the rain until later Wednesday, but it'll eventually get wet there too. It'll stay cool and damp during this stretch, with below-normal temperatures. As we head into the weekend, the unsettled and chilly weather sticks around into Friday and Saturday with more scattered showers. There's a glimmer of hope for improvement by Sunday, and early signs point to a possibly dry and slightly warmer Memorial Day Monday as high pressure starts to return. Eyewitness Weather Forecast for May 8 — Sunny days sweeping the clouds away in CNY!
HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR THURSDAY, MAY 8 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED: Cool air will be hanging around through the end of the day Friday! While most of the time is wet, a few dry spots are possible here and there. Tonight stays mostly wet too, though there's a small chance for some inland dry conditions, and it will be seasonable with temperatures dipping below 50 degrees. As we head into Friday night and Saturday, a storm system will develop and spread out rapidly across the Central New York area and most of the New England region, although western sections of the Empire State will miss most of it. That rain will start to ease up on Saturday, as high pressure moves into the Mohawk Valley, clearing things out and bringing in some milder air. Friday stays on the cooler side with the highs in the upper 50s, but then Saturday, we should be able to warm up a bit into the middle 60s. Both Mother's Day Sunday and Monday are shaping up to be sunny and gradually warming up. By the middle of next week, though, clouds and rain are starting to return with another system in place. Eyewitness Weather Forecast for May 7 — Will CNY finally dry out?
HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 7 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED: Tonight, a cold front is moving through, and that's going to bring in some cooler air for the rest of the work week! Most of the rain will head off to the east, and what's left should just be a few scattered showers. Central New York will start drying out, and we might even see a bit of sunshine breaking through. Later tonight into early Thursday, another system will swing in from the north, bringing more clouds and maybe a few light showers, but it shouldn't get too foggy thanks to a light breeze. From Thursday night through Saturday, expect a stretch of unsettled weather as another disturbance rolls in. That means more rain, especially in eastern areas. Friday will feel cooler than normal, but by Saturday, the rain should start to ease up as high pressure builds in, and temperatures will begin to warm again. Looking ahead to Mother's Day Sunday through Tuesday, things look mostly dry and pleasant with a return to warmer, more summer-like weather. But by Tuesday night into Wednesday, another system could bring more rain up from the south. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
