What time and channel as Ireland U21 midfielder STARTS for Manchester United

Ireland Under-21 midfielder Jack Moorhouse has landed a starting spot in the first friendly of Manchester United's end-of-season tour to Malaysia. The Red Devils flew to Kuala Lumpur this week for a pair of games - with the first one against ASEAN All-Stars kicking off at 1.45pm Irish time. Ruben Amorim brought a 32-strong squad with him for the tour and he opted for a blend of youth and experience in his first-11. Andre Onana starts in goal, while Harry Maguire captains the side, with youngsters Reece Munro and Ayden Heaven also in defence. Jack Moorhouse is described on the United website as 'a progressive ball-carrier for the Under-21s'. Amorim said on Tuesday that he would look to tap into the club's underage structures to support his first-team squad next season. United's failure to qualify for the Champions League has put a huge dent in the Old Trafford manager's summer transfer plans. He said: 'We always prepare two plans. With and without the Champions League. Without the Champions League, we also don't need a big squad. 'We can control the squad in a better way. Then we have a plan, that is to bring in some new players, but our big plan is to improve the team we have, to improve the Academy. 'It was the past, so it can be the future. It can't change much because of Financial Fair Play, we are not allowed to do much, even with the Champions League, so we are prepared. 'It's important to stick together. We are going to struggle, it's not going to be everything right away, but I can see the team improving and that's the most important thing.' Moorhouse (19) has already appeared twice on the bench in the Premier League - for games against Tottenham and Arsenal - and he was there again in both Europa League legs against Lyon. Amorim added that he wouldn't look to place too much pressure on the younger players. 'One issue is we push too much from the beginning and you have social media and all the pressure around the young kids,' he said. 'It's hard to control. I don't want to say any names but I believe in all of them and sometimes, like you said, you have surprises. 'This is a massive club and that is a big question - sometimes we put our young kids on a pedestal and that is an important thing to change, because we need to control that.' Moorhouse will join up with Jim Crawford's Under-21 squad when he returns from Malaysia, ahead of Ireland's friendlies against Croatia and Qatar U23s in Zagreb next week. You can watch Manchester United's friendly against the ASEAN All-Stars here with a subscription to MUTV. Starting-XI: Onana; Munro, Maguire (c), Heaven; Dalot, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dorgu; Moorhouse, Mainoo; Hojlund.

Amorim comments point to huge opportunity this week for Ireland U21 prospect

Ireland Under-21 midfielder Jack Moorhouse has travelled to Malaysia with the Manchester United first-team squad - and manager Ruben Amorim's comments on Tuesday will be music to the youngster's ears. The 19-year-old has already appeared twice on the bench in the Premier League - for games against Tottenham and Arsenal - and he was there again in both Europa League legs against Lyon. Moorhouse is part of a 32-strong squad, a blend of experience and youth, with Andre Onana, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, and Bruno Fernandes in the former category. But if we are to take Amorim at his word, there will be opportunities for the younger members of the travelling party, including Moorhouse. Speaking in Malaysia, he pointed to United's history of producing long-term success through their youth ranks - from the Busby Babes to Alex Ferguson's Class of '92. He may be forced next year to reach into the club's underage structures to bolster his options, given United's failure to qualify for the Champions League. Last week's Europa League final defeat to Tottenham ended their prospects of securing European football next season - and it put a huge dent in Amorim's summer transfer plans. We are going to struggle, it's not going to be everything right away, but I can see the team improving and that's the most important thing.' He is aware that he cannot put too big a burden on young shoulders. 'One issue is we push too much from the beginning and you have social media and all the pressure around the young kids,' Amorim said. 'It's hard to control. I don't want to say any names but I believe in all of them and sometimes, like you said, you have surprises. 'This is a massive club and that is a big question - sometimes we put our young kids on a pedestal and that is an important thing to change, because we need to control that.' Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton. Harry Amass, Dan Armer, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, Jonny Evans, Tyler Fredricson, Ayden Heaven, Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki, Harry Maguire, Reece Munro, Luke Shaw. Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Bruno Fernandes, Tyler Fletcher, Sekou Kone, Kobbie Mainoo, Jack Moorhouse, Mason Mount, Jim Thwaites, Manuel Ugarte. Alejandro Garnacho, Amad, Rasmus Hojlund, Shea Lacey, Chido Obi, Joshua Zirkzee.

Two Man Utd prospects in Ireland U21 squad as Shamrock Rvs teen gets first call

Jim Crawford has handed a first Under-21 call-up to Manchester United midfielder Jacob Devaney. The Red Devils skipper at Under-18s level has featured for Ireland's Under-19s - but this is his first time moving up to this age group. He will join clubmate Jack Moorhouse, who has featured in a handful of senior United squads this season - making the bench in both Europa League legs against Lyon, as well as against Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League. Also in the squad for the first time is 19-year-old Shamrock Rovers defender Cory O'Sullivan. He has been rewarded for his impressive display so far in 13 Premier Division appearances for the Hoops. Crawford has drafted in Drogheda United forward Warren Davis. The 20-year-old had six Premier Division goals to his name so far this season. Completing a trio of League of Ireland debut calls is Cork City's Cathal O'Sullivan. Ireland will head to Zagreb for the two games, which will serve as final preparation ahead of the European qualifiers, which begin in September. They will take on hosts Croatia on June 6 (4pm Irish) and Qatar four days later (5pm). Crawford said: 'These two games will be huge in terms of the preparation for the European Championships Qualifiers and we look forward to testing ourselves against quality opposition. 'Croatia have long had great pedigree in their youth teams and as for Qatar they are an emerging team in international football and will be a challenge. 'This is a young squad, we've nine players still in their teens but the majority of those nine are playing first-team football or around the first-team environment. 'It's important we look at all options available to us, to put us in the best shape come September. We've had some solid performances already as a group and we saw that in particular in the last game against Hungary and we'll be looking to build on that.' Goalkeepers: Killian Barrett (Sheffield Wednesday), Noah Jauny (Stade Brestois), Aaron Maguire (Tottenham Hotspur), Andrew Wogan (Stockport County) Defenders: Sam Curtis (Sheffield United), Sean Grehan (Bohemians, on loan from Crystal Palace), Alex Murphy (Newcastle United), Cory O'Sullivan (Shamrock Rovers), David Okagbue (Walsall), Gabriel Otegbayo (Sheffield Wednesday), Jacob Slater (Brighton & Hove Albion), Midfielders: Jacob Devaney (Manchester United), Darius Lipsiuc (Walsall, on loan from Stoke City), Jack Moorhouse (Manchester United), Jamie Mullins (Brighton & Hove Albion), Adam Murphy (Bristol City), Joe O'Brien-Whitmarsh (Southampton), Cathal O'Sullivan (Cork City), Harry Vaughan (Hull City) Forwards: Warren Davis (Drogheda United), Joe Gardner (Nottingham Forest), Jad Hakiki (Sligo Rovers), Mason Melia (St. Patrick's Athletic), Mark O'Mahony (Brighton & Hove Albion).
