Tom Cruise is a force to be reckoned with in the stunts world! The action star has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the most burning parachute jumps by an individual. The Mission: Impossible star performed 16 of the aforementioned leaps during filming of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the eighth chapter in the beloved franchise. 'His absolute focus on pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do is unmatched. It's an honour to recognise his utter fearlessness with this new title.' In the film's dramatic climax, Cruise's character Ethan Hunt comes face to face with his nemesis, Gabriel while high in the sky. While we wont give away any spoilers, the scene does see Hunt jump from a burning plane, with Cruise, who is a licensed skydiver, having executed the stunt 16 times. The action star has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the most burning parachute jumps by an individual. Pic:for Paramount Pictures Each individual jump involved leaping out of a helicopter while strapped to a parachute that was set a blaze. This is Cruise's second Guinness World Record. He holds a box office title for actor with the most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies. He has 11 movies that qualify, starting with 2012's 'Jack Reader' and ending with 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.'
