Chaminade Julienne adding a middle school for 2025-26

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local Catholic high school has announced it is opening a middle school for the 2025-26 school year. The inaugural Chaminade Julienne Middle School class will be nearly all 50 seventh and eighth graders from Our Lady of the Rosary School, highlighting the deep partnership between the two schools. Recently, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati; the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce; the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA); and Chaminade Julienne's Board of Trustees approved the charter change. It was fully supported and affirmed by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the Marianists. Local university to host Lent art gallery 'This is an exciting next step in our partnership with OLR and a wonderful opportunity to welcome even more students into the CJ family,' said Dan Meixner, CJ president. 'It's a blessing that builds on years of collaboration.' The high school has hosted Our Lady of the Rosary's seventh and eighth graders on its campus for the past two years, through a space-sharing agreement. The agreement enables OLR to launch a preschool program. 'We've seen measurable improvements in academic readiness among OLR students, especially in their placement in college prep and honors courses,' said Jacki Loffer, assistant principal at OLR. 'Our graduates are more prepared than ever for high school success.' Why is Easter hardly on the same Sunday? The students will now have full access to campus resources, including the gymnasium, band room and STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) labs. 'I feel like we're making history,' said Neema Apendeki, a current seventh-grader. 'It's a big opportunity to be part of the first eighth-grade class at CJ.' Give Life: Donate blood this Easter weekend The CJ Middle Schoolers will fully participate in school traditions such as Catholic Schools Week, Spirit Week and the Lenten Mission Drive. Chaminade Julienne is a private, co-ed Catholic school in Dayton. The downtown high school was founded in 1850, it has been at the Franklin and Ludlow streets location since 1886.
