NHL reporter makes embarrassing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce U-turn after bold statement

NHL rink side reporter Jackie Redmond has been forced to make an embarrassing U-turn about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attending Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Tuesday night. Early Monday, Redmond told fans to 'get excited' before saying 'not confirmed, but according to a good source'. A few hours later, Redmond, who also works for the WWE as a broadcaster, pulled back her near-guarantee. 'My "good source" has been downgraded to just a "source" - might've gotten bad info on this,' Redmond said on X. Swift and Kelce attended Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, watching the Edmonton Oilers defeat the Florida Panthers in overtime. The venue was close to an offseason home that Kelce has in southern Florida. While exciting, there were plenty of reasons to believe why Kelce wouldn't be showing up - even if there's the possibility of the Panthers clinching back-to-back Stanley Cups. For starters, the Chiefs begin their mandatory minicamp on the same day as Game 6. This camp runs the entire week - with all 91 preseason roster players expected to be in attendance, with fines kicking in otherwise. The fine for missing one day of mandatory minicamp is over $17,000 - with fines for missing the whole week ballooning up to $104,768. Now, with that said, it is possible for Kelce to hop on a private jet right after Day 1 of minicamp ends, drive to the airport, fly the three hours from Kansas City to south Florida, drive to the arena just in time for puck drop and watch the game before flying three hours back, and landing at home at some ungodly hour of the morning before reporting back to training camp the next day. But, Kelce also did just get back from France on Monday after spending time in Cannes with his brother Jason at a panel discussion hosted by Amazon. Not only that, but while Kelce had been spending plenty of his offseason working out privately in Florida in preparation for the upcoming season, he skipped out on team OTA's in order to do so.

‘Chalamet at Knicks': Jackie Redmond defends Taylor Swift coverage at Stanley Cup

Sports reporter Jackie Redmond emerged as a staunch defender of Taylor Swift for the pop star's appearance at the Stanley Cup. Many on social media were incensed about the fact that Swift and her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, were shown during the live coverage of the Stanley Cup Finals game 4 in Florida. Jackie Redmond said that Swift drew attention to the NHL and gave the game exposure, which it does need. 'It's been 48 hrs. Can we plz get over the fact the biggest pop star in the world went to a hockey game and - gasp! - we showed her!? God forbid a celeb draw attention to a sport ppl constantly say needs more exposure! Hope y'all had the same energy for Chalamet at Knicks games,' Redmond wrote on social media platform X. Taylor Swift made an unexpected appearance at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers in Florida on Thursday night.

NHL reporter Jackie Redmond hits back at fans claiming Hurricanes' Rod Brind'Amour was ‘disrespecting' her during interview

Jackie Redmond is putting the social media peanut gallery in its place following her in-game interview with Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour on Wednesday during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. The 'NHL on TNT' reporter spoke to Brind'Amour midway through the first period, when Carolina led the Panthers, 1-0, and asked, 'With the way this game is being managed by the officials so far, what's the message to the group about how to handle it from here?' Brind'Amour, trying to keep the Hurricanes' season alive while trailing the Panthers, 3-1, in the best-of-seven series, replied, 'It's a great question, these aren't real penalties … obviously, we got to stop the hitting and then just go play. I'm a little bit frustrated, as you can tell.' 5 Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour speaks to Jackie Redmond during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on May 28, 2025. NHL on TNT/X 5 The conversation took place during the first period. NHL on TNT/X Amid apparent pushback over the exchange, Redmond stood up for the longtime Carolina coach and hit back at the suggestion he was 'disrespecting' her. 'And anyone who says this is Brind'Amour disrespecting me – he's one of nicest coaches I've worked with. We have great relationship,' Redmond wrote Wednesday night on X. 'And disrespect would be giving me one word or not even doing the interview. MANY teams would gas the interview in THAT spot. Rod didn't. Just FYI.' When one X user responded to Redmond, 'He obviously has a lot of respect for you. He appreciated the question and told you what he thought,' she answered, 'Thank you. Twitter is tough sometimes.' 5 Jackie Redmond defended Rod Brind'Amour in a post on X. Jackie Redmond/Instagram 5 The Hurricanes fell to the Panthers in Game 5 and saw their season end. AP Despite holding a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period, the Hurricanes gave up three goals in the second to the defending champion Panthers, who added two more goals in the third to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final for the third straight year with a 5-3 victory. 'They're a great team and it's obvious the last couple of years, they're the standard, obviously,' Brind'Amour said. 'I thought our guy battled really hard all series.' Florida took the first three games in the series before Carolina finally got on the board in Game 4. 5 Rod Brind'Amour has guided the Hurricanes to the playoffs every season during his tenure as head coach. Edmonton, which fell to Florida in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final last year, leads Dallas, 3-1. Game 5 is set for Thursday night. Brind'Amour, who played for the Blues, Flyers and Hurricanes, has been at the helm in Carolina since 2018. He's reached the playoffs every year.
