IceHogs and Admirals headed for a game 5 after another Admirals win on the Hogs home ice
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The IceHogs will be spending Mother's Day in Milwaukee. They'll be playing a winner-take-all game five in their Calder Cup Playoff Series against the Milwaukee Hogs dropped a second-straight game on home ice Friday night falling to the Admirals Hogs led 2-1 in after the first period following goals by Jackson Cates and Aidan Thompson, but they were blanked in the second and third Admirals got a first period goal from Turner Ottenbreit and second period goals by Kyle Marino and Ozzy Wiesblatt. IceHogs can't take advantage of Jackson Cates' hat trick falling to the Chicago Wolves in a shootout
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Rockford IceHogs had a great opportunity to pull into a tie with the Chicago Wolves for the fourth playoff spot in the Central Division Tuesday night at BMO Center, but they fell short losing 5-4 in a Hogs couldn't take advantage of a great night by forward Jackson Cates. He scored a goal in the first period and two more in the second period for a hat trick. Cates' third goal gave the IceHogs' a 4-2 lead, and they were feeling good about things. But before the period ended, the Wolves struck back with a pair of goals to tie the team scored in the third period. Neither team scored in overtime. The Wolves had a chance to end it in that session when the Wolves were awarded a penalty shot, but IceHogs' goaltender Drew Commesso turned away the shot by Justin the shootout, the IceHogs failed to convert on shots by Joey Anderson and Andreas Athanasiou while the Wolves got goals from Ryan Suzuki and Bradly Nadeau. So, the IceHogs earned one standing point, but with the Wolves bagging two points the Wolves extend their division lead over the IceHogs to three points. The IceHogs have ten regular season games remaining. They'll have one more regular season shot at the Wolves on the final game of the regular season on Saturday, April 19 in Rosemont.
