Teens disrupt Jacksonville Splash Zone event
JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Jacksonville Parks and Recreation hosted a 20th Anniversary celebration at their Splash Zone on Saturday, but not everything went as planned. According to a social media post from the City of Jacksonville, the free event was attended by hundreds of people, but as the night progressed, some people were turned away due to capacity, and a group of teenagers gave pushback to event staff. Jacksonville citizens react to reported explosion at Sig Sauer ammunition center City officials said the teens attempted to force entry by rushing the gates and scaling the surrounding fences. Organizers said posts to social media later claimed that there was a shooting at the event, due to the perceived actions of the teens, but confirmed that those rumors were false. Officials said that due to the actions of the teens putting the safety of attendees – including young children – at risk, the Jacksonville Police Department responded and detained those who were involved. Man shot in head in Moncrief
A man was hospitalized Tuesday night after he was shot in the head, according to Jacksonville police. The shooting occurred at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of W. 21st Street. Officers responded to the area in response to a person shot. When they arrived, the found the victim, a male in his 30s, suffering from a gunshot wound to his head, a police news release states. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, the news release states. " ... At this time no witnesses have been located, and due to the victims condition he has been unable to speak to detectives," the news release states. Man killed in shooting on Jacksonville's Westside
A man is dead after a shooting Monday night on Jacksonville's Westside. Police were called to the 7400 block of Ricker Road at about 8:15 p.m. responding to a person shot. Officer arrived to find an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced him dead at the scene, a Jacksonville police news release states. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Police said multiple people of interest were detained at the scene. No arrests were announced. 'At this time, the circumstances that led to the victim's death are unknown, and the investigation into the associations of the people involved is continuing,' the news release states.
