Moncton jury finds Saint John man guilty of 2nd-degree murder
A jury in Moncton has found a Saint John man guilty of second-degree murder. Kyle Smith-Kingsley stood trial over more than a month for the shooting death of Jacob Wright in Dieppe in 2023. The jury also found 32-year-old Smith-Kingsley guilty of robbery and disguise with intent. Smith-Kingsley's case is scheduled to return to court July 7. Second-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for at least 10 years. His parole eligibility will be determined by a judge at sentencing. He was one of three people charged in the death of the 26-year-old. Adam Robichaud and Brandon LeBlanc have yet to stand trial. RCMP previously said officers responded to a Louis Street home in Dieppe around 10 p.m. on June 25, 2023, for a report that a man had been shot. Police said Wright was found with gunshot wounds and taken to hospital, where he died.

Man found guilty of second-degree murder in 2023 Dieppe homicide

(Alana Pickrell/CTV Atlantic) A Saint John man has been found guilty of second-degree murder in connection with a 2023 homicide in Dieppe, N.B. Police responded to a shooting at a home on Louis Street around 10 p.m. on June 25, 2023. Officers found 26-year-old Jacob Wright inside the home with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police say 31-year-old Kyle Smith-Kingsley of Saint John was on parole for unrelated matters at the time of Wright's killing. Smith-Kingsley was charged with first-degree murder on July 20, 2023. Smith-Kingsley appeared in a Moncton court on Wednesday and was found guilty of second-degree murder, robbery and disguise with intent. He is scheduled to return to court on July 7 for sentencing. Man City midfielder to complete £25m move to Cesc Fabregas' Como - with Pep Guardiola's side due huge profit on £9m signing despite playing just twice
Manchester City midfielder Maximo Perrone is completing a £25million move to Como. Perrone joined City from Velez Sarsfield in Argentina two years ago for around £9m, spending last season on loan at Las Palmas. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a run at Serie A this term under Cesc Fabregas, with Como set to finish the campaign in mid table. The club's official website recently labelled Perrone a 'compass', the 'Swiss watch' who keeps 'Como ticking' and they had already triggered a one-year extension to his loan deal. But talks surrounding a permanent switch continued between the two parties and they have struck a deal that will see City almost triple their profit on the central midfielder. 'As far as I'm concerned, I want to stay here, grow and learn more with Como,' Perrone said in February. Back in February he admitted that he was keen to stay at Como and learn under Cesc Fabregas 'I want to give a hand to my team-mates and I'm happy to stay with Cesc. I have an excellent relationship with him. I hope my future is here with Como.' Perrone made two substitute appearances, in the Premier League and FA Cup, for Pep Guardiola's side. Meanwhile, fellow central midfielder Jacob Wright is also set to finalise a permanent move to Norwich City. Wright, an academy product, joined the Canaries on loan in January and is expected to go for just over £2m after 15 appearances in the Championship.
