1 2 Cuttack: A constable and a home guard were killed and another was critically injured when a sand-laden truck collided with a PCR van on the Cuttack-Paradip road early on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 4:30 am near Gati Routpatna when the PCR van was on a routine patrol. The deceased have been identified as home guard Jagannath Mahali, who was driving the van, and Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) constable, Lokanath Shabar. Home guard Pabitra Mohan Sethi, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His condition is now stable. "The PCR van was on patrol when the sand-laden truck collided head-on with the vehicle," said Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari . Using specialised equipment, they worked for hours to extricate the bodies from the mangled PCR van. An accident case has been registered at CRRI police station. Post-mortem has been completed, and the bodies have been handed over to the families. CM Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

Bhubaneswar, April 22 (UNI) Two police personnel were killed and another seriously injured when a heavy vehicle hit a Police Control Room (PCR) van on the Cuttack-Paradip road on Tuesday morning. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over the loss of the two police personnel. Conveying his condolences to the bereaved families, he announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs each to the next of kin of the deceased. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured police man. The deceased have been identified as Jagannath Mahali, the PCR van driver, and Lokanath Shabar, a constable of the Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF). The injured police personnel, identified as Pabitra Mohan Sethi, has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The PCR van was on routine patrol duty when the heavy vehicle collided with it, killing the two personnel on the spot. According to the Cuttack DCP, the driver of the heavy vehicle has been arrested. The PCR van was completely damaged in the accident. The Chief Minister also expressed grief over the death of three persons in another road accident near Joda in Keonjhar district. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased. UNI DP PRS
