RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship gets underway; Dr Neeraj K Pawan inaugurates week-long competition
Jaipur: The RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship got underway at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium Hall here on Monday. Principal sports secretary Dr Neeraj K Pawan (Sports and Youth Affairs), RD Baheti and Pradeep Baheti inaugurated the week-long annual tournament. Neeraj K Pawan and Pradeep Baheti played a rally to mark the inauguration in the presence of players and Jaipur District Badminton Association officials. Neeraj K Pawan was introduced to all the players on this occasion. He wished them all the best for a great performance. Jaipur District Badminton Association secretary Manoj Dasot said that around 700 players are participating in the competition. According to organizing secretary Atul Gupta, around 350 matches were played on the first day in which matches of the qualifying round of Under-15 category were played. 1 2 Jaipur: The Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship will be held at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here from June 9 to 16. The week-long annual tournament will be organised by the Jaipur District Badminton Association (JDBA) and sponsored by RD Baheti Charitable Trust. Addressing a press conference at the Jai Club here on Sunday, JDBA president Anil Mehta said that this competition is the biggest district level badminton tourney in Rajasthan, which will get underway next Monday. The JDBA secretary Manoj Dasot and Trust's RD Baheti and Pradeep Baheti were also present during the media interaction. Competition will be held from the age of 11 years to 75 plus in both boys and girls and women and men categories. Dasot informed that the competition will be played as per international standards and there will be singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions in all categories. The chief referee of the tournament will be KK Mathur and veteran referees Jagdish Khatri and Vikas Mathur. The match controller of the tournament will be Pankaj Saini of Alwar. Certificates, mementos and medals will be given to the winners of the competition. Treasurer Atul Gupta said that in view of the All India Sub-Junior Ranking tournament starting from June 14 in Goa, the Under-15, Under-17 and senior category competitions will be completed by June 12. On the basis of performance in Jaipur tourney, district mini, sub-junior, junior and senior teams will be selected. Veteran team will not be selected from this meet as there will be separate selection competition for it later. The last date for submitting entries is June 7 till 5.30 pm. Players can submit their entries at Sawai Mansingh Stadium Badminton Hall from 5 pm to 9 pm and at the badminton entry hall set up by JDBA. Pradeep Baheti of RD Baheti Charitable Trust, who himself was a national-level badminton player, said that the trust always supports the upliftment of backward classes and for the construction of various schools and colleges. And he also works for the protection of cows. Apart from this, he will now pay more attention to sports and promote sports. On this occasion, comedy king RD Baheti also introduced people to some experiences of his life. The JDBA patron Rajeev Nagori, international women shuttlers Alka Batra, Ritu Lohia, Ghulam Nizamuddin Khan, Manoj Chawla and Govind Singh were present on the occasion.
