NMC ramps up efforts to boost admissions in its schools
Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has started a drive to increase student enrolment in its 114 schools for the 2025-26 academic year. Additional commissioner Vaishnavi B recently visited the Isasani area near Jaitala Secondary School, where she held talks with parents, teachers, and school staff
During her visit, Vaishnavi B inspected the enrolment process, interacted with parents, and informed them about numerous free facilities offered by NMC schools including free admission, textbooks, uniforms, meals, bicycles for students commuting long distances, bus passes, travel allowances for differently abled students, and free coaching for competitive exams like JEE and NEET.
In a meeting with school staff, the additional commissioner called for action to increase admissions in schools. According to NMC officials, pamphlets explaining the various facilities provided in NMC schools are being distributed across different parts of the city. Additionally, banners featuring students who achieved merit rankings are being displayed at prominent locations.
Also, each NMC school teacher has been instructed to ensure at least 10 new student enrolments by June 30. Currently, NMC operates 86 primary and 28 secondary schools, along with four junior colleges, collectively educating over 14,600 students. These include Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, and English medium schools.
