Authorities raid Johnstown home seize stolen guns, drugs, arrest two
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A Johnstown duo was jailed Thursday on drug charges after police raided a home and found one of them trying to flush crack cocaine down the toilet, authorities said.
An agent with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General charged Brandon J. Mays, 24, and Erica L. Jakab, 55, both of Esther Street, with drug possession.
According to a complaint affidavit, authorities raided the residence Wednesday seizing drugs, paraphernalia and stolen handguns.
Mays was caught allegedly trying to flush drugs into the toilet. A detective snatched the baggie of crack cocaine before it was destroyed.
Authorities allegedly found crack cocaine, marijuana, three stolen handguns, ammunition, a stolen 308 caliber Browning rifle, $341 in cash, scales and packaging material.
A Sig Sauer 9mm handgun was entered as stolen by West Hills Regional police, a Glock 27 handgun and a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun were entered as stolen by Johnstown police. The rifle was entered as stolen by Pennsylvania State Police.
Mays and Jakab were arraigned by on-call District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi, of Vinco, and sent to Cambria County Prison in Ebensburg.
Mays is being held on $100,000 percentage bond. Jakab is being held on $75,000 percentage bond.
