Mannara Chopra's father and Priyanka Chopra's uncle, Raman Rai Handa, passed away at 72. His funeral will be held on June 18 in Mumbai.
Mannara Chopra's father and Priyanka Chopra's uncle, Advocate Raman Rai Handa, passed away on June 16 in Mumbai. He was 72. The news of his passing was shared by Mannara via her Instagram Stories, where she posted the family's official statement along with funeral details.
The family's message read, 'With profound grief and sorrow we inform the sad demise of our loving father who left us for his heavenly abode on 16/06/2025. He was the pillar of strength for our family."
Handa is survived by his wife Kamini Chopra Handa, and daughters Mannara and Mitali. His funeral will be held on June 18 at 1 PM at the Crematorium Ground in Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai.
Raman Rai Handa had been unwell for the past couple of days and was in Mumbai with his family during his final moments.
Professionally, Handa was a lawyer at the Delhi High Court. He was married to Kamini Chopra, who is the paternal aunt of actors Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra. The Handas share a close relationship with the Chopra family, despite Mannara rarely mentioning it in public.
In a previous interview with Siddharth Kannan, Mannara addressed the speculation surrounding her relationship with her cousins. 'If I would take my family's name, they would have called me a nepo kid. They would have said that I don't have a personality. Now that I didn't take their names, they created another story that my relationship with my sisters is not good. My relations are very sorted," she said.
Speaking about Priyanka specifically, Mannara added, 'I looked up to her while growing up because I noticed how she could buy things on her own. She could stay in the best of the places, do whatever she wants, and rule the world according to her terms. That was something I imbibed from her. That was something that got inside me."
Mannara has acted in films across multiple languages including Zid, Rouge, Prema Geema Jantha Nai, Jakkanna, Thikka, and Sita.
