BJP's minority front chief Jamal Siddiqui offers chaddar at Salar Ghazi's dargah, calls him 'saint' amid ban on fair

BAHRAICH: Amid a ban by the district administration on the fair held at the tomb of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi in Bahraich, the national president of BJP Minority Front, Jamal Siddiqui, offered a 'chaddar' at the dargah on the occasion of Urs and said he considers Ghazi a "saint". On May 3, the Bahraich district administration denied permission for the annual 'Jeth Mela' traditionally held at the dargah. In an official statement, the administration cited the prevailing atmosphere of public anger following incidents like the Pahalgam attack and Sambhal violence and concerns surrounding the amended Waqf Act as the reasons. The Jeth Mela, originally scheduled to take place from May 15 to June 15, was expected to draw lakhs of pilgrims from India and abroad. Replying to queries, Siddiqui told reporters that there can be a ban on the fair, but there is no ban on Urs. "People are coming for pilgrimage. Syed Sahab's status is very high. Lakhs of people come here to pay obeisance and have benefited from him. I have also come here to pray with my father," he said.

BJP minority front to launch nationwide drive encouraging muslim women to join armed forces

NEW DELHI: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Minority Front of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch a nationwide campaign aimed at connecting educated Muslim girls and women with the armed forces. The campaign is scheduled to commence on 9 June, starting from Muslim-dominated areas across the country through community gatherings known as 'Chaupals', involving direct engagement with members of the Muslim community. As part of the outreach, the BJP Minority Front will also organise a series of programmes across India to mark 11 years of the Modi government, highlighting flagship central schemes such as the Ayushman Bharat health card. Speaking to TNIE on Friday, Jamal Siddiqui, national president of the BJP's Minority Morcha, said, 'Our outreach is aimed at informing members of the Muslim community about the benefits of various government schemes. We will educate Muslim citizens, particularly women and girls, on how to access the Centre's developmental and welfare programmes.'

Meetings will be held in dargahs and madrasas, and Muslim girls will be encouraged to join the defence forces. 'We want them to also join the forces, become Agniveer. For this, we will start a programme across the country from June 9,' he said. Copies of the Constitution would be distributed and members of the community apprised of the rights bestowed upon them. For this, a big programme will be held in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh. More than 42,000 Hajj pilgrims left in lurch, Rijiju urged to step in

Flagging 'restlessness in the Muslim community' after 42,000 Hajj pilgrims who had booked their travel through private operators were 'left in the lurch', BJP's national minority morcha Jamal Siddiqui has appealed to Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju to intervene. Siddiqui had received representations on the issue from All India Ulama and Mashaikh Board that only around 10,000 of 52,507 pilgrims, who had opted for travel to Mecca through private operators, were able to register to proceed with their journey between June 4 and 9. Demanding action against private tour operators, Siddiqui wrote to Rijiju: 'For the 2025 Haj pilgrimage, 52,507 seats were part of the quota of private tour operators. But due to their negligence and incapability, the Saudi government had done away with this quota. After your efforts, only a quota of 10,000 seats could be achieved.' Siddiqui said, 'For such negligence related to such pious work, the quota under private operators should be cancelled for good, given to the Hajj Committee (of India) and the responsible private tour operators should be issued fines in addition to being blacklisted…' A senior BJP leader aware of the issue said, 'Prerequisites were supposed to be done through the Saudi Arabia government-run online portal, NUSUK, which is no longer accepting applications, leaving more than 42,000 such pilgrims who have made flight arrangements, in the lurch.' On April 15, the Ministry of Minority Affairs said that these quotas are finalized by the Saudi authorities closer to the time of the pilgrimage and the Ministry, through the Haj Committee of India, manages arrangements for the bulk of the quota allotted to India, which is 1,22,518 in the current year. 'Due to changes in Saudi guidelines, more than 800 Private Tour Operators were consolidated into 26 legal entities termed Combined Haj Group Operators (CHGOs), by MoMA this year… the Haj quota was allocated by MoMA to these 26 CHGOs well in advance. However, despite reminders, they failed to comply with the necessary timelines set by the Saudi authorities and failed to finalise the mandatory contracts… 'Due to the government's intervention, the Saudi Haj Ministry has agreed to reopen the Haj Portal (Nusuk Portal) to all CHGOs to complete their work in respect of 10,000 pilgrims based on the current space availability in Mina,' it had said. Meanwhile, the BJP Minority Morcha is all set to launch a nationwide campaign titled 'Nagrik Tiranga Yatra for National Security' starting today, under the mission 'Operation Sindoor'. A virtual meeting was held to finalise preparations, chaired by Jamal Siddiqui, National President of the BJP Minority Morcha. Dushyant Kumar Gautam, BJP National General Secretary and Morcha In-charge, was present at the meeting as the chief guest along with other national and state-level office bearers. 'Operation Sindoor is a patriotic initiative meant to boost the morale of our security forces across the country,' said Jamal Siddiqui. He emphasized that the campaign would convey the message that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the nation remains secure. Siddiqui made a bold statement suggesting the eventual downfall of terrorism and the elimination of its source, Pakistan, from the global map. The campaign involves over 14,000 Sufi followers who, after participating in the Yatra, will offer prayers for soldiers at major shrines including Ajmer Sharif, Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah (Delhi), Sabir Pak (Kaliyar), and Shams Turk Dargah (Panipat), among others. Siddiqui added that the main aim of the Yatra is to strengthen national unity and the spirit of patriotism among citizens. Holding the tricolor and marching through streets, participants will spread awareness that national security is not just the army's responsibility but of every citizen. The campaign will include slogans like 'We Stand with the Army' and 'Nation with Operation Sindoor'. Only official visuals such as the Operation Sindoor logo, images of PM Modi, and Indian Armed Forces will be used--no pictures of other parties or organizations. The Yatra will be rolled out in phases across capitals, districts, tehsils, and major villages. All sections of society, especially ex-servicemen, their families, students, and religious leaders, are encouraged to participate. It will be a peaceful, disciplined, and spirited procession featuring patriotic music and long national flags. Special prayer events will also be held at Gurdwaras, Churches, Mosques, Dargahs, and other religious sites. The Minority Morcha will form state and district-level monitoring teams to ensure effective execution of this historic campaign. (ANI)
