Washington Parish jail inmates plan to escape stopped by jail staff
WASHINGTON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — An attempt to break out of a Washington Parish jail was prevented by jail staff.
In a post to social media, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office reported inmate James B. Lorio attempted to escape through the air condition duct in his cell block on Monday, May 26.

Deputies said around 12 a.m., inmates of an adjoining block reported hearing movement in the air ducts and alerted a corrections officer.
In a quick response, deputies found that Lorio had return after learning his path was blocked and that officers were notified.
He now faces a charge of simple escape for leaving the cell block he was confined flags put pedestrian safety in their own hands
